Hi I'm DeVaughn

I'm a learner, a music buff, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I really enjoy learning new things. I'm usually either reading articles and books or watching dorky TV shows. Music is a big hobby of mine, I've played multiple instruments throughout my life and I love listening to all types of artists, bands, and composers. I really enjoy the outdoors and love hiking, rock climbing, and exploring. I'm going to be enrolled at BYU Hawaii where I'm still deciding on majoring in Graphic Design or Computer Sciences :]

Why I am a Mormon

Being a convert to the church means that I had to tackle challenges and temptations with less spiritual preparation than others. My keeping myself involved in church activities I make it a lot easier to live a happier, more enjoyable lifestyle. Being a vegetarian mormon of black american descent makes me a bit of a unique person, which makes my life all the more interesting and enjoyable. Every day is a new adventure if you actively search for and live by things that make you happy :]

How I live my faith

My favorite part about my faith is honestly the interactions. I really love home teaching especially. The families me and my partner home teach are awesome and I love just being there to talk to them. Meeting new people and hearing their stories inspire me every day and its really cool to hear how the gospel affects other peoples lives.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

No. The largest part of our faith (in my opinion of course) is living a lifestyle that reflects the way Christ lived and died. He didn't eat with kings or ignore the poor and the sick. Jesus fed the poor, healed the afflicted, and brought together what is now a worldwide community. As LDS people we must therefore strive to be a positive part of everyones lives, not just mormons. Helping neighbors, aiding the less fortunate, and being a good friend to everyone you meet is really important :] Show more Show less
