Do you want to chat with a missionary?

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi I'm Holly Denton

I'm a native Tennessean. I'm a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am a student of Brigham Young University in Rexburg Idaho. I am a musician and I am serving a full-time mission. I am a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

As a lifelong member of this church, I have been able to learn about the gospel by others who teach it by the spirit and by love. I am a Mormon because I genuinely believe in principles that this church teaches. I have spent my life watching some of the best examples how to live this gospel. I have grown to know Jesus Christ through prayer and scriptures. I have learned to call him my brother and my Savior. I am a Mormon because I know that we have living Prophets on the Earth today. I am a Mormon because of the beauty of God's plan and because of the completeness of the gospel. I am a Mormon because I know this church is true.

How I live my faith

I attend church meetings in my ward regularly. I also go to Brigham Young University in Idaho. I've been called to serve in the Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission, and I've been reassigned to the California Long Beach Mission. I love to read the scriptures and learn more about the church!

What do Mormons believe about family?

Holly Denton
I believe that I can be with my family forever. Think as far away from now as possible, then multiply that by ten, then multiply it by one hundred, then multiply it by one million, then multiply it by infinity, that's how long we can be with our families. According to The Family: A Proclamation to the World, the family is central to God's plan. So before life, during life, we are family. If we do the right things in life, such as marriage in the temple and being sealed to our family, we can be together with them for eternity in the life to come. I know that I will be able to be with my family because my father and mother got married in the temple, and I know that I will get married in the temple also so that my children will be with me forever. "And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." -Matthew 16:19 Show more Show less

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Holly Denton
"We believe in the same organization that existed in the primitive church, namely apostles prophets pastors teachers, evangelists and so forth." -Article of Faith Number 6 Our church is very unique in the aspect that we have the same organization that existed when Christ was upon the Earth. We have a prophet and twelve apostles just like in the Bible. It is simply that. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Holly Denton
Being a Mormon is amazing. I cannot imagine living another life as great as the one I have now. I have a family that will last forever, I have wonderful friends that have the same standards as myself, and I have amazing leaders who teach me the things I want to know concerning my life here as well as after this mortal existence. Through attending church I learn about God's Plan of Happiness and in more detail, the Atonement. Knowing the nature of these two plans make me optimistic and excited for the future. Its makes me try harder to achieve not only spiritual, but also academic and social accomplishments. Being a Mormon gives me self esteem. From around three or four years old I was taught that "I am a Child of God." From twelve years old, I was taught that I am a daughter of God, a princess to a King, and an heir to his eternal kingdom. Now I am taught that through Christ's Atonement I can become perfect. Being a Mormon gives me much joy and happiness. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Holly Denton
In the Bible, Jesus Christ answers Nicodemus' question, "How can we be born again?" in the following scripture. "Jesus answered, verily verily I say unto thee, except a man be born of the water and of the Spirit, he can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God." We baptize new members for this reason. Baptism is a saving ordinance which opens a gateway through which we may continue on to receive eternal life. Show more Show less

Holly Denton
