Hi I'm Jeremy

I'm a professional geek (programmer). I enjoy running long distance, watching movies, and dark chocolate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a geek with a lot of different interests. I enjoy computers and other shiny gadgets, of course. My dad and I are working on a model train layout in his basement (which is coming along slowly but surely). I also enjoy a good fantasy novel, movies, dark chocolate, hiking, and long distance running. I'm married with three young kids, which is both a lot of fun and a lot of work. My wife is awesome (of course) and shares a lot of the same interests as I do. One thing she added to my interests was sport fencing, which I have enjoyed since she introduced me to it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active Mormon family in Utah, so that's how I initially became a Mormon. However, I have stayed a Mormon because of effect that I have seen it have on my life, and because I have felt the witness of the Holy Spirit, which has taught me of truth, comforted me at times, and helped to guide my life. Because I am a Mormon, I believe that I am a better person, and a happier person.

How I live my faith

There's the usual things that I try to do faithfully--going to church, reading scriptures, and praying. To me these are not rote things which magically make me a better person. Instead, I feel that I am learning to become a better, happier person. I feel that God truly hears and answers my prayers. The gospel affects not just these things, but just about every aspect of my life. Because of the things that I have learned and experienced, I believe that it is important to help and serve others, and try to do my part to help where I can. I have learned about the importance of family, and so I try hard to be an active father and considerate husband. I try to avoid certain things that could harm me spiritually.
