Hi I'm Corbett

I grew up in Utah, went to Europe on a vacation and am now married to a European. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I followed my dream and studied music as an undergraduate, but knowing it could never provide for a family I completed an MBA and now work as a program manager in the high tech industry. I see myself as the antithesis of an engineer/technical content expert, and yet that is all that I work with. I love all kinds of work and find myself most satisfied when I'm working. Maybe that's why my wife and I have 5 wonderful children - it requires a great deal of sacrifice and work, but with it comes a satisfaction and joy at times that is without comparison in either the workplace or recreation. I love mountains, and biking, and given the time I spend doing it, my kids think I love weeding since it's the only way to keep vegetable and flower gardens beautiful.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because it is the truth. Through much work, study, pondering, living the principles on faith and through communion with the Holy Spirit I have come to the sure knowledge that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restored, true church of Jesus Christ. That knowledge has been written deeply in my soul and is as tangible to me as an object that I can hold. I know that my Redeemer lives, and that through the Atonement which he wrought, we can be changed, cleansed, forgiven, and made ready to return to our Father in Heaven with our families. How do I know that? Because I have personally experienced this mighty change of heart, and felt the overwhelming love which he has for me and for others - and I continue to experience this as my life progresses and I learn to better humble myself and seek to put away my less worthy desires and follow His example more perfectly. I've experienced the difference between sermons and ordinances performed under the authority of men and those delivered with true authority from God. I've received the priesthood of God, and inasmuch as I have honored it by trying to live worthy of what it means, I have felt its power as I've served others through the exercising of it. I'm a mormon because the knowledge of the gospel plan that was initially restored through the prophet Joseph Smith, and continues to be revealed through prophets and apostles today leaves no core doctrinal gaps. The Plan of Salvation as restored in these latter days truly explains why we exist on earth, what we are to be doing here, why there is opposition, temptation, sadness, sorrow, pain and injustice on this earth, the purpose of the family, and how we can come to know Deity and become like them, which is core to understanding what comes after this mortal existence. I'm a mormon because despite the difficulty, sacrifice and stress that can sometimes come with it, it gives me a peace that surpasses understanding.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by learning about it, listening to other's experiences and knowledge regarding it, trying to better understand the way in which the Spirit of the Lord communicates with me and in praying to my Father in Heaven. I teach sunday school and youth classes, visit other members and share spiritual messages with them each month, try to make myself available for when others need a helping hand, teach my children the principles of the gospel and try to provide them a good example to follow as they search for their pathway to Christ and his Atonement. I try to reverence the sabbath day and other sacred things.
