Hi I'm Erik

I love the outdoors. I am a math teacher and coach at the high school level. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived on a farm in Utah my whole life. I enjoy the farm life, harvesting hay and taking care of animals. I enjoy the outdoors. I can't get enough of hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, basically anything outside. I am into sports. I like playing and watching about any sport. I am also helping to coach football and soccer at the high school I work at. My family is great, we spend a lot of time together. We play board games, go on walks, picnics in the mountains, etc. It is wonderful to spend time with the people I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have been a part of the church for my whole life. I have chosen to continue to be active in the church because of the blessing that the gospel brings to my life. What I want more than anything else is to live in heaven with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and to have my family there with me. I know that the Atonement of Jesus Christ makes that possible. He has taught that if we have Faith in Jesus Christ, Repent, are baptized, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to end of life, then we can live in heaven with our families. This knowledge means everything to me. The most important part of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the Atonement of Jesus Christ. That makes everything else possible. It is through the Atonement that I am able to receive forgiveness for my sins. I am not perfect by any means, but Jesus Christ makes up the difference with the Atonement. Another, important part of the Atonement is the healing power. I recently got out of an abusive relationship. I really had a hard time accepting/coping with what was going on in my life. That is when I really experienced the healing power of the Atonement. I turned to the Lord, and He was there to comfort me. Although it is still hard, and some days are better than others, I know that the Lord loves me and will help me through all of life's challenges. That is why I am a Mormon. Because I know the Lord is always there for me, and as long as I live the gospel I will continue to receive forgiveness, support, and healing through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I attend church each Sunday in our congregation/ward. I worship the Lord Jesus Christ by taking the sacrament and promising to remember Him and follow His commandments. We also have classes where we learn more about Jesus Christ and what I can do to better serve Him and keep the commandments. In our ward/congregation I have a calling where I work with membership records. Basically it is my job to keep track of all the members in the area. That means that when they get a different calling or get a new address or new phone number, I update that information in the computer so that the leaders of our congregation know how to contact people and how to best help them. I also put information into an online ward calendar. This makes it easy for members in the area to know what activities are happening. I worship the Lord daily by praying to him. I try to thank Him for the blessing in my life every day. This really opens my eyes to how wonderful and loving the Lord is. Study of the scriptures are another important way that I show my love to the Lord. Reading and applying His words from the scriptures helps me to live my faith.
