Hi I'm Megan

I am a daughter, I am a sister, I am a student, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am in college right now studying Health Education and Biochemistry. I hope to teach at secondary schools and ultimately work for the peace core. I grew up abroad (Paraguay, Croatia, Austria, Greece, Maryland), and my family is now stationed in Lima. I love swimming and field hockey and running. Waking up early in the morning and getting in a good run and shower is the perfect way for me to start my day. I love to cook but I love eating even more, and I am a happy person.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up abroad, the church was not big. Sometimes my family and I were the only Mormons in our region. I went through a "rebel phase" of not going to church and pulling away from the Lord, but when I realized what a mistake that was, he was there with open arms to take me back and help me get on the right path. I've had examples in my life of people who have lost their faith and those who have clung to it. I know what makes me happy, and I would not give up the companionship of the Holy Ghost, the opportunity given to me by Jesus Christ, or the love and grace I feel from God for anything in this world or the next. Nothing can shake my faith of the truthfulness of this gospel.

How I live my faith

I have a calling to be the Family Home Evening Group Leader. Basically I'm the "Ma" for my FHE group and it is so much fun! The people I've met in the church have changed my life and have helped me through things I would have really struggled through alone. Going to activities, studying the scriptures from classes and institute have been so edifying. Taking temple trips and finding opportunities to serve other children of God is so fulfilling. Making God my number one in everything thing that I do and every decision that I make is the best way I believe I can describe it. I live my life to it's fullest by living my faith.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Megan
Yes!! Absolutely, Yes. The Bible was written by inspired and true prophets of God just like the Book of Mormon was. In fact, the two works compliments each other. Personally, I love the Book of John from the New Testament and the book of Isaiah from the Old Testament. We read the King James Version of the Bible so I cannot say I know much else about other versions, although I would assume they are all similar to one another. We believe, however, that the King James Version is that which has been translated most correctly. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Megan
The Word of Wisdom is a health law given to members of the church by God via Joseph Smith Jr. (through revelation) that protects our bodies. I could go into all the physical health benefits, but most people probably already know them, and if not, they are everywhere so researching it would be easy. The reason we all obey the Word of Wisdom is because we believe that our physical bodies are gifts from our Father in Heaven. They are like vessels for our spirits so that we can perform the Lord's service and work here on earth. Performing the Lord's work is hard to do when an addiction is seriously manipulating the spirit and body, while intoxicated, or while doing something the Lord has specifically asked us not to do.
