Hi I'm Mike

I've been very blessed. I have a wonderful family. I'm two years out from finishing Residency. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm almost an Orthopedic Surgeon. I've dreamed about this for many years...in fact too many. Four years of College, then four years of Medical School, then five years of residency....of which I only have two years left. :) I sometimes feel graduation day will never really come, but time is starting to pick up. I played football in college. When I was walking on the football team, I worked as a produce stocker at Costco and have thus acquired the skill of picking out a good watermelon. I have beautiful wife and four little children. Between residency and my family, I often don't have much time to myself, but I've come to realize that I couldn't be happier than when I'm with my family. Each one of my children is unique. I love hearing about the things they say and do while I'm at work. I love seeing their interaction. My worst memory of Residency so far is when my son came home from preschool one day with what he had drawn. Apparently his assignment was to draw his home and then draw his family inside the home. The teacher became concerned when my son had drawn the house with my wife, himself, and his two sisters inside....and some scary looking figure outside looking in the window. When she asked him who the scary man looking in the window was, He said, "That's my Dad, he doesn't live with us. He lives at the Hospital." He hasn't perfected his drawing skills yet, but I guess my spikey hair can really make me scary when he draws me.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a member of the church. The church has brought so much truth into my life. Simple gospel truths have been restored that bring so much more gospel light and understanding. I served a mission in Puerto Rico almost 15 years ago. I learned to serve and to love the people of Puerto Rico. As a missionary you have two years to work on seeing others as God sees them. You have two years to forget about yourself and to focus on others. It's amazing the love you can develop for those you serve. I love everything about the church. It teaches so many great and wonderful principles. Families are eternal. Relationships don't have to end after death. Truths and ordinances have been restored. These truths bring added happiness and a more full understanding of the Plan of Salvation and Happiness God has prepared for us. I know the gospel has brought me and my family much happiness. I know that our relationships will continue on after this life. The Book of Mormon is an amazing Book of scripture that testifies as does the Bible that Jesus is the Christ. I know my Savior lives. Christ was resurrected just as His apostles testified of it. One day we will have an opportunity to thank Jesus for his life, his death, and his sacrifice that allows us to repent and come closer to Him and our Father in Heaven. I love my Savior. I know that I cannot repay him, but I can at least try and live my life so that it Honors his sacrifice. Joseph Smith was a 14 y/o boy who saw and spoke with God the Eternal Father and His Son Jesus Christ. He was called to restore the gospel truths that had been lost since the time of Christ. The fullness of the Gospel has been restored, and in the fullness, much joy and understanding can be found. If we can come to know the nature of God, we can grow our love towards Him. The Holy Spirit has witnessed this to me many times. Like I said before, i've been extremely blessed.

How I live my faith

I participate in weekly in my church calling. I was asked to serve as an instructor to other men at my church. I really enjoy teaching and leading discussions because I feel like I learn the most by having to study the lesson each week in preparation of teaching it. I'm also in charge of several families. I really enjoy the families I visit monthly. There are many opportunities to share messages and serve others. When we serve others, we are really only serving God. We are all God's children, and when we are helping His Children, God blesses us with his love. God is a part of my daily life. I know He wants us to find happiness in this life. He can lead and direct us if we seek Him out. I've witnessed this many times in my life. God loves us just as we love our own children, but His love is even more charitable and pure then we can offer up. A good goal in this life would be to learn to love others as God loves you, and as He love them. I'm sure that if we could comprehend how much God truly loves each and every one of us, we would treat others slightly differently.
