Hi I'm Megan Elizabeth

I'm a teacher. I'm a learner. I love dancing, reading, and laughing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a high school teacher, and I love my job. I got married this year, and I'm really enjoying the new adventure of marriage. I love reading all kinds of books, but I love Victorian novels (Jane Austeny stuff) and Young Adult Literature (aka The Hunger Games!). My husband and I really love the outdoors, so we go hiking and camping a lot and I'm hoping to try some real rock climbing this summer. I come from a big family and my favorite thing is to go home and eat Sunday dinner with all those crazies, they're the best of the best and even though we're all different somehow we make it work.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because the Church has brought me greater joy than anything else. When I was younger, I struggled with my faith because I wanted to know for myself, not just rely on the testimony and example of my parents. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was true and if Joseph Smith was truly a prophet of God. I felt an incredible reassurance and a witness from the Spirit of God that the Book of Mormon was true scripture and the word of God and that Joseph really was called of God as a prophet. I know that this Church is true because when I live the way it teaches I am always happy, even when difficult things happen in my life. When I pray and read the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, I feel strength to continue doing what is right. The feelings that I get lead me to serve and help others and bring them to Christ. I continue to live this gospel because I know for myself that it is true.

How I live my faith

Right now I live my faith by focusing on my family. My husband Alan and I just started our own new family and we like to focus on time together by reading the Book of Mormon and praying together each night.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Megan Elizabeth
I have gone through periods in my life where I've read the scriptures and periods when I haven't, and I can feel a definite difference in my life, even from day to day. When I read the scriptures, I feel joy and peace in my life--no matter what circumstances or trials I am experiencing. The scriptures have become a refuge for me where I can escape the stress and strain of life and grow closer to my Father in Heaven. As I read the scriptures, I find direct answers to specific prayers, answers that remind that my Heavenly Father is aware of me and cares about what I care about. When I pray sincerely, He answers directly, most often through the scriptures. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Megan Elizabeth
Modesty and chastity both stem from knowing who we truly are. When we understand that we are diving beings, truly daughters of a Heavenly Father who loves us then we do not need to use our bodies to get attention. Being modest shows your commitment to the gospel and your love for Jesus christ. Being chaste shows that you value the incredible power you have been to be a co-creator with Heavenly Father. Being completely modest and chaste shows that you understand who you are, the incredible potential you have, and how much you love your Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
