Hi I'm Ben

I grew up in Michigan. I love lacrosse, boating, and cars. I"m a Mormon.

About Me

I'm in the middle of college, majoring in computer science. I played lacrosse in high school. It's my favorite sport, but I haven't kept up with it in college. My first car was an old Jeep Cherokee with a manual transmission. It was a dump, but I loved it. Through that I've developed skills in fixing cars and a love for cars and especially jeeps. Also, the manual transmission made me feel like I drove a fast car and has become a requirement for my future vehicles. I've spent lots of time on my family's water ski and wake boarding boat for as long as I can remember. I am proficient in slalom skiing, wake boarding, wake surfing, and other boating activities. I find great joy in these activities and love how it has helped keep my family close.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I am imperfect. If I was perfect, I could just live my life without error and be confident in my salvation. But that is not the case. Through my imperfections, I have come upon times of heartache and have struggled much. Being a part of this church leads me towards Christ, and towards peace. Through Jesus Christ, through his teachings relayed through my church leaders, and through the Book of Mormon, I have discovered a kind of hope and happiness in my life that permeates through every aspect of who I am. It survives the hard times, and helps me through them. I know that Christ lives and has suffered so much for me. Because of His mercy, I will be able to return to live in peace with God and my family. Though I can never repay Christ for his infinite atonement, I can strive to show my gratitude. Through service to others and attempting to obey His commandments to the best of my ability, I show Christ that I do not take his sacrifice for granted. Though I will never truly do all I should, or even all I can, I know that as I keep my heart directed towards Him and His plan for me, I will find peace throughout my life and eternity.

How I live my faith

I've grown up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and always have tried to do my part. I've been involved through the years in the leadership of the church youth groups and have been very active in participating in those groups. I also have served in callings as an instructor and home teacher. As an instructor I helped others become more familiar with the church and the scriptures and helped them to develop the skills to be able to inform others of what they themselves believed to be true. I am a strong advocate of missionary work and I believe telling others about my experiences can help them to find joy in their lives. As a home teacher, I have visited those in my area to ensure that we are unified in growing together and making sure everyone's struggles are taken care of, or at least acknowledged.
