Hi I'm Brittney
I grew up in Tennessee and absolutely love it! I'm currently living far away from home to finish up nursing school in Utah. I'm excited to have my nursing license and be able to follow Christ's example in serving and healing people every day (how much more rewarding can a career get??). I love watching and playing almost all sports but grew up in a baseball family, so baseball is naturally my favorite. I think I've hit the highlights here, but keep reading because it only gets better. (:
Why I am a Mormon
I grew up with both parents active in the Church, and I knew and understood and had a testimony of the Gospel at a young age. During my senior year of high school and the first bit of college, I surrounded myself with the "wrong crowd" of people, though. Many temptations were overwhelming, and I stopped living the Gospel life. I was perfectly content with the way I was living, but, at the same time, I was completely aware that my lifestyle was the total opposite of what I had believed and known to be the true and right path in life. I eventually realized that my life had become empty and mundane and was missing something significant, something worth living for. So, I changed. I went back to the Gospel I know to be true and started living the way I was taught by my parents. It took a lot of courage to leave the comfort zone of my lifestyle, and it took a lot of faith that I'd find happiness in a completely new life for myself (I'm not a big fan of change). But, whatever my fears and reservations were at the time have no significance at all anymore because the Gospel has brought so many blessings into my life. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was really unhappy with pretty much everything before I made the change. With the complete pure joy I experience every day now, it's so obvious that Gospel-living results in happiness. I know Heavenly Father wants me to be happy and to succeed. He wants to help me through hard times. He wants me to feel unimaginable, divine peace and joy. He wants to give me all the blessings He can possibly give. He wants me to feel loved by people around me and by Him. He wants me to be able to love so much in return that I don't think there's enough room in my heart to hold it. By living the words of Christ and the modern prophets, I have been able to experience all of these and so many more. I can honestly say that this is the happiest I've ever been in my entire life. I'm happy. I'm loved. I'm blessed. I'm a Mormon.
How I live my faith
Having a Christ-like attitude is the ultimate goal I try to attain and improve on every day. I think that is the most important thing a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can do because with a Christ-like attitude, everything else (like serving and loving others, obeying the commandments, and daily scripture study and prayer just to name a few) fall into place with incredible ease. On days that I'm successful in having a Christ-like attitude, I am able to see the beauty of the world around me; I'm able to accomplish all the requirements of any church position I hold; I'm more than willing to put my needs/wants on the back-burner in order to help someone else; I'm able to understand the miracle of mortality and refocus myself on the ultimate goal of returning to live with my Father in Heaven, and the stresses of everyday life seem less daunting. Jesus Christ is my brother. He is my Savior. He is my example for how to live life. The more I strive to get to know Him and develop a relationship with Him, the more I will be able to be like Him, share His attitude, and live a life similar to how He lived.
