Hi I'm Katya

Kia ora! - (Hello) I'm Katya. I live in Gisborne - New Zealand. And YES, i am a LDS member! And proud of it. :)

About Me

Weeell, i am from a little city - Gisborne - (3,400 people) and from a little country of a population of around 4million - New Zealand. I am from a family of 7 children and a single mother. My older sister and I are the only ones that are members of the church and the others are taking lessons with the Elders atm. I am in my last year in High School / College and i am looking forward to going to study at a higher degree and meeting new people of our faith because i would have to move to a new branch. I like to hang around with our youth as there is about 40 of us. I also play netball and love to care for children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am proud to say i am a member because it has helped me see an eternal perspective and has helped me set standards for myself. I know it is where i need to be in these latter-days. Being in the gospel has made me more humble, happy, fun, bubbly, all round good person. I know the gospel can seem a bit hard at first by getting over your trials but in the long run i believe we will be worthy enough to enter the Celestial Kingdom. I believe there is a place for us in the Kingdom of our Father and advise you to try and come. Its not as boring as people say it is. Our Heveanly Father does know each of us and does live to help us as in my opinion, He does not give us any trials that we aren't able to achieve.

How I live my faith

There was this position in Nursery that i always up held. I was never really called into there because i was only 17 but for me i thought i was called into there for my own purpose. I knew that one of our sisters needed a hand in there so i went in there, i thought that what i was doing was good and to me it was my calling. I am a YSA now but i still help out with the youth as another leader or just somebody that they can come talk to me because i am still their age and understand what they are going through. Each one of our members help new investegators feel accepted into our branch. Our Young Women (including me) vist them at school, invite them to mutual, invite them to attend activities with us which makes us feel better with ourseleves and know we are looking into the eternal perspective not the wordly perspective. I am so proud of our our ward and our youth. How i live my faith is i carry around my "Quad", my Strength of Youth Pamphlet and my Young Womens booklet as it helps me live the standards that im capable of. I know every time i look at my scriptures next to me it helps me to be the best to my ability and focus more on the saviour than anything else. My leaders do a great job and teaching us the standards so now we have to do a great job at keeping our faith and standards.
