Hi I'm Harry Ng

I am a study-abroad student, a member for my university's marching band, a dreamer, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a study-abroad student from Hong Kong, lived in Idaho, Texas and Utah. I am currently serving as a volunteer missionary for the church in Sydney, Australia. I was a university student and I love watching college football. Back when I was studying in Texas, I noticed if I want friends I better learn to "talk football", so I learned about American Football, and even until now I am still a No.1 fan of it. I decided to join my university's marching band, main purpose is so that I can travel to some away games for free, get paid to go to football games and march on the field and hear the cheers from the crowd. I am very grateful for is having friends everywhere I go. One thing I have learned from living in different places, is that you can have everything but without faith and friends you are nothing. From time to time, I needed supports and encouragements. I once had a rough time and felt alone, and depressed, feeling the whole world collapsed on me. Through this temporal darkness, I was able to find what matters and what I need, and the light that shines brightly at the end of every tunnel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in the church, rarely miss church and attended seminary for 4 years. But hardly any gospel knowledge sinks into my mind or my heart. Until a point when I was studying in Texas, I recognized my weakness, knew that I didn't have many friends and figured I was probably not trying to be the best I can. As I felt more stress and lonely, it got me thinking what's the purpose of life? And it leads to heaps of other questions. I remember I learned to pray in church. I know that God will answer my question, if He is real. So I started to pour out my heart and soul to ask those questions. After the prayer, I felt an undeniable feeling pour down from above, that cover my whole body, and within it. From that moment, I know God is really there and He did answer all those questions I had. Throughout the years after that experience, I slowly learn and understand more and more about the church and the gospel, and my testimony grew stronger.

How I live my faith

Some of my friends are not member of the church, and they have different standard. It was hard to maintain my standard, especially when I was in a completely new place and community. To maintain my standard, I find way to share with them about my faith and why I live the standard set by God. Fulfilling my duty and calling in the church and trying to be more Christlike day by day, are also another ways to demonstrate my inward and outward commitment toward my faith. Serving as a full-time missionary for my church, is the best way to thank God for what I have received from Him throughout my life.
