Hi I'm Ann Marie Lawton

I grew up as an army brat, so I have lived in many parts of the United States.

About Me

I graduated from Moorestown Friends School in Moorestown, New Jersey where I received an excellent college prep foundation. Then it was off to Brigham Young University from which I graduated in Elementary Education in 1961. After graduation, I taught a year in the Alpine School District and married in the Manti Temple. Then I taught a year and a half in Tucson, Arizona. We raised a family of three children. By choice, I was a stay at home mom. After over twenty years of marriage, I went through a painful divorce. It became necesary to teach again, this time in the Nebo School District. After ten years of being a divorced lady, I met Robert Lawton, fell in love and married in the Provo temple. I love people, serving in the church., going to plays. reading, swimming, cross country skiing, walking for exercise.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother, Grandma Hattie Loosli, and Aunt Lisle Andrus nourished my growing testimony until I knew The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true, restored by Joseph Smith in our day. As I have testified to others, my testimony has been strengthened. While a junior in high school, I participated in the Hill Cumorah Pageant. Because of a huge rainstorm, the pageant was cancelled one evening. Some of the cast members, including me, decided to go into the audience and give away Book of Mormons. I talked to an eldery man for over an hour bearing testimony of the Book of Mormon and other principles of the Gospel. He felt he was too old to change, but my testimony gave him courage. The missionaries working where he lived sent word back to me that he had been baptized. At BYU I developed a great love for 3 Nephi 11 in the Book of Mormon where the Savior's visit to the Americas is recounted.

How I live my faith

When called to serve, I serve faithfully with the Spirit of The Holy Ghost.
