Hi I'm Brett

I love to play basketball. I enjoy racing dirtbikes and....I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in a super small town in Idaho. Just so you know how small it is, I graduated with eighteen kids (less kids than the average mormon family)!! I really enjoyed growing up knowing everyone in my town. I have always loved the moutains and all of the activities that go with mountains. After High School I attended college for a year at BYUI. I studied Automotive Technology and loved college a ton. After college I came to Iowa to serve a mission. I am now serving a mission in the Iowa Des Moines Mission and loving every minute of it! I have always loved to ride dirtbikes as well as snowmobiles. Not too long ago I started to race dirtbikes and I fell in love with it. Also I have really been involved in sports my whole life. I played football, basketball, and I ran track. Basketball has always been my favorite by far. Last of all I have the best family ever. I have always enjoyed having a close family that loves to have fun together. We have spent many days camping in the mountains and on some kind of motorized vehicle together. I have two awesome parents, three great brothers, and one sweet sister.

Why I am a Mormon

Prior to college and serving a mission I was not really sure why I was a Mormon. It was something I just did. I am not proud to admit that basketball and dirt bikes were more of a focus. As I got off on my own a little more I started to think more about some of the things that should have mattered to me before. Going to college and then off to a mission was a huge change for me. It was not always easy and I questioned my faith more than ever. As I have studied the Bible, Book of Mormon and other scripture I have learned so much. I learned that there is much more to this life then just the next basketball game or the next race. Although they are a ton of fun they are not most important. I came to realize that we have a much greater purpose being here. As I have learned this it has changed me and what I focus on. Through study and prayer I have come to realize that this is Christ's church. I have also come to know that our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are real and they love us so much. I know that they will answer our prayers and through that we can come to know what is really true. I am so grateful for the things that I do know and I am constantly searching for more. I am a Mormon because I know that these things are true.

How I live my faith

Well most recently I have had an opportunity to live my faith to a greater capacity. I am a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am serving in the Iowa Des Moines mission. I live my faith by sharing my testimony of the Savior and how it helps me with others that I come in contact with. I love to help out in the communities and serve in the areas where I am located. There is no greater feeling than helping someone come to know their Savior. Other ways I live my faith is by attending church every week, studying scritures daily, and trying to stay close to our Heavenly Father through prayer. I try to follow Christ and his teachings the best I can. This is not always easy and I am definently not perfect at it but I know that it is what we need to do and it will bring great blessings to our lives.
