Hi I'm Brian

I am a student of psychology, I question everything, and have been blessed with many answers. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am studying psychology, seeking first a bachelor's degree, and then a master's degree. I want to be a therapist, because I want to help others move beyond their struggles in their life. I am a husband to my amazing wife who is incredible in so many ways. I enjoy mountain biking, playing computer games, reading and studying psychology. I also enjoy working on cars, building/using computers, and cooking. One of my favorite things to do however, is to talk to other people. I find that everyone I talk to has a very interesting point of view on something that I have never considered, and it is a lot of fun to try to see things from other people's points of view.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for a simple reason: It is absolutely the true church. God is real, and loves His children. One experience I have had is one of the most poignant and precise moments of love from Heaven I have ever experienced. When I was ninteen years old, I had made some mistakes which caused me to lose the opportunity to serve a full time mission. I was extremely distraught about this, and fell into a deep depression, as serving a mission had been a goal my entire life. The day came where I was supposed to enter the Misssionary Training Center (MTC), and I was beyond consolation, for I knew that I was supposed to be somewhere else, preparing to teach the gospel to His children. I received a phone call that was not meant for me, but was from a missionary in the MTC who was making calls to share the gospel. Upon learning I was a member, they relaxed a little, but shared a single scripture with me anyway. As they were sharing the scripture, a very strong feeling came over me, that the next scripture they would share with me (the missionary only intended to share one) was specifically for me at that moment. The missionary paused, and, almost hesitantly, told me that they felt that they had a different scripture they needed to share with me. The scripture was from The Book Of Mormon, from the book of Alma, 26:27: "Now when our hearts were depressed, and we were about to turn back, behold, The Lord comforted us, saying: Go amongst thy brethern, the Lamanites, and I will give unto you success." I was depressed, and I was in need of comfort from God, and not only did He know it, He, the most powerful being in the Universe, chose to help me at that moment. He touched the heart of a missionary to share with me specifically what I needed to hear. I testify with all of my heart that God lives, and that this is His true Church, and that He loves each and every one of us more than we can imagine.

How I live my faith

In church, I teach the men in our ward once a month, pulling my lesson from the assigned teachings from our most recent semi-annual or annual church conference. I love my calling, because I love our conferences. I love to hear the prophets of God teach what God has revealed to us today, and I love to share the love and doctrine I hear and feel through these teachings. I also am a home teacher, and I get the opportunity to visit a couple of families in our church group monthly, to share the message that our church leaders want the church to hear.
