Hi I'm Julie

I was raised on a small family farm, now run a gardening website and blog, and have 3 beautiful children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The biggest part of my life right now is my family. I have 3 cute kids that keep things exciting, and one wonderful husband that keeps me grounded. I became a certified auto mechanic before I got married, but gave that up once I had my fist child. I love that I can save my family money by working on my own cars, and help others in need. I also enjoy my large vegetable garden, and the produce it provides. I enjoy that hobby so much, I started a gardening website and blog to help others create thier own gardens. I also love to stay active and exercise in many different forms, and teaching my children how fun it is to be healthy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I know that Christ lives, and he has provided us with a way to return to our Father in Heaven. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ provides me with the opportunity to take those paths that lead back to Him. I feel like it is such a wonderful blessing and honor to be a member of His church, and I hope that everyone can feel that joy that comes from being a member of His Church.

How I live my faith

Every day after dinner and before bed time, we get our 3 young children ready for bed, then we gather in the living room and read the Book of Mormon. They are not always quiet and good, but I hope that it teaches them to love the stories and the spirit that you get from reading the Book of Mormon. Then we have our family prayers. We are not perfect at doing this every night, but when my husband and I have the same goals, it really helps us to stick to it. Service is a big part of our lives, and it touches my heart to see how much my kids love doing things for others. It is a wonderful way to bring the spirit into our lives.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I have found Mormon men for the most part very respectful of women. I am free to do anything I desire in my life. My chosen occupation was an auto mechanic, and enjoy doing many things that men traditionally do. I have never had any negative repercussions from that. I now choose to be at home with my children, but am in no way required to. I am very thankful for the opportunity to be my kids full time mother. We believe that men and women are equal in the eyes of God, we are just inherently different and have different roles in the family- both being equally important. Show more Show less
