Hi I'm Tom Isaacson

I live outside of Washington D.C. I am a patent attorney and have three boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Salt Lake City, served a Mission in St. Louis Missouri. I graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Electrical Engineering. I went to law school at BYU and am now a patent attorney. I love playing basketball and sailing. I recently sailed our sailboat from Annapolis to Bermuda in an ocean race.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church but am a firm believer that each person, in order to have the commitment necessary to stay engaged and active in the church over the years of their life, must in essence become a convert by gaining their own testimony. I had many spiritual experiences serving and particularly reading the Book of Mormon prior to my mission. Doing missionary work and going out and helping the missionaries after my mission helped to further provide me with many opportunities to teach which grows your testimony as well. As a Bishop, I see people who live the basic principles who are naturally happier and more free. I have seen the gospel work in my life and the lives of others. I have also seen the sorry and pain experienced by people who make improper choices. It is so plain to see. Living the principles of the gospel brings a spirit into your life and brings you closer to Christ.

How I live my faith

I am currently the bishop in our ward in Maryland. We do much service in our local congregation by helping people move in and out of the area. We have many military families that come and go and the church is constantly changing. I love spending time with the youth doing activities such as sailing trips, canoeing, and teaching them about the gospel and how to live closer to Jesus Christ.
