Hi I'm Rebecca.

I am a wife and mother. I graduated university with an English teaching degree. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read and write and I hope to be a published author someday. I also watercolor, play the piano, and sew. I'm a mother of two young boys and I stay at home to take care of them. I went to college and earned a degree in English teaching and a coaching minor. I taught English for grades 8-10 and would say that I love teaching 8th and 9th grade, but mostly 8th.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Latter-day Saint (Mormon) because it's true. I've felt too many times as I was reading the Book of Mormon, or listening to someone speak in church, or felt my Heavenly Father's love to say that it wasn't true. One day in Sunday School when I was about 14, the teacher challenged each of us to pray whether or not the Book of Mormon was true and if Joseph Smith had really seen Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I had been living the principles taught in the Book of Mormon and knew that they were good, but I felt that obviously I should have prayed and already received an answer. I committed that night that I would begin to pray to Heavenly Father for an answer if the Book of Mormon was true. I knelt by my bed that evening and began to ask if the Book for Mormon was true or not. It seemed logical to get an answer to that question first. For if it was true, then Joseph Smith was telling the truth not only about the Book of Mormon, but about his vision. I prayed fervently and was disappointed when I received no answer. I thought that maybe I wasn't praying hard enough or I had gotten distracted. I decided I would try again the next day. On the second day, I asked Heavenly Father my question again and still did not get an answer. I prayed for two weeks and began to be upset, and frustrated that I hadn't gotten an answer. Finally I asked Heavenly Father a different question: Why are you not answering me? I already know the Book of Mormon is true so why don't you tell me? It was then that I felt great peace and relief and an immense love. I had already known the Book of Mormon was true. I had been living its principles already and slowly and quietly, I had come to know it was true. I know that a loving Heavenly Father answered my prayer that night. It may not have been in the way I wanted, but I do know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. This is experience and may other personal spiritual experiences is the reason I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I teach Sunday School for the children ages 3-11 and I also organize activities for all those kids every few months. It's been a learning experience for me. I conduct the meetings and also teach a lesson once a month. It's been daunting thinking that I'm teaching these children the Gospel and how hard it will be. But then once I start teaching, I realize it isn't that hard at all because the Gospel is really simple. Heavenly Father loves us and he sent His son Jesus Christ her on Earth to atone for our sins so that one day we could live with Him again.
