Hi I'm Travis

I'm a med student, a father, a sports lover, and an avid outdoorsman. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending medical school in Texas and love living next to a beach. I have an amazing wife, a little boy, and a little girl on the way. I enjoy spending time with my family and like to play sports in my spare time. I also like to stay in shape by riding my bike. I have a goal of biking across the US and have completed 1/3 of that trip and plan on finishing it as soon as my schedule allows. I also love being outdoors and am trying my luck with salt water fishing. My main background up to this point has been fly fishing in Colorado and Wyoming, but ever since moving to Texas I've been trying my hand fishing in the Gulf and have loved it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons, but ultimately it comes down to the fact that I have received a confirmation from God that this is His gospel. I was born a Mormon, but this witness didn't come until I was in high school, at a time when I felt like I was being pulled in too many directions. I came to the point where I had to know for myself which way God wanted me to go. Up to that point I had studied in the Book of Mormon and the Bible, and I had been taught consistently that God would answer my prayers, so I prayed and asked God if all I had been taught was true. Almost immediately I received such a strong witness from God that it was true. He witnessed to me that this was the path that He wanted me to travel, and I have been so blessed since that time. Since then I've had my ups and downs, but every time I pray, study the scriptures, or just live the gospel I have that answer reconfirmed to me. Every time I turn to Jesus, He is always there for me. I am so grateful for His love and guidance and the impact it has had on my life!

How I live my faith

I try my best to live my faith daily. This includes studying the scriptures and praying, both individually and with my family. Having a little toddler makes it fun and interesting trying to figure out ways to teach him about Jesus and His gospel. The biggest thing about living my faith is to try my best to love others the way Jesus does. I'm not perfect, but He helps me. At church I work closely with the missionaries to see what things they need help with. I also teach the basic Sunday School class for recently baptized members or those who are not members but interested in the church. I love how simple the principles of our Savior's gospel really are. I feel that not only am I teaching in that class, but I am learning myself!
