Hi I'm Kaylie

I'm from Texas, I'm a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Texas. I'm a second-year college student studying music composition, and I hope to become a music therapist. I play the flute and the piano and I love to sing. I enjoy traveling, baking, doing crossword puzzles, spending time with friends and family, and making dumb jokes. And I'm a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because the gospel truly means everything to me! The truths of Jesus Christ bring meaning and purpose and hope into an otherwise really confusing existence. I know that when I am living the things that I have been taught at church that I am so much happier than when I am not. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who created the entire universe, but also that He cares about me, and each of His children, individually. He loves us and knows what we're going through and wants to help us through our hard times. And He also wants to hear from us during the good times! He listens to our prayers and answers them--prayer is really a powerful thing. Through it I have been able to receive comfort, strength, and any number of other blessings in my life. I know that the Book of Mormon is a gift to us from God and that it is true. I have been able to learn so much about God and about myself through reading and studying it. It brings peace to my life. We also have worldwide church leaders today that are inspired and who communicate directly with God. I am so grateful for living prophets and the direction they give. Another reason that I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that through it, I can be with my family forever. I love my family so much, and I know that because of the work done in holy temples, I can be with them even after I die.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church meetings weekly and doing my best to serve others. As a musician, some of my favorite ways to serve in the Church are playing the piano for meetings or participating in musical numbers. I love the music of the Church and the spirit that accompanies it. I also do my best to live my faith outside of Sunday meetings. Some of my friends think that it is too hard to be a Mormon because there are so many "rules" that we have to follow. But I know that following the things God has asked me to do helps me to live safely and happily. Life is hard as it is, and I know that obedience to the commandments protects me from a lot of things that would complicate life further. And I also know that each one of us has a lot of potential to do good! There are a lot of terrible things in the world, so I do my best to combat that simply by being kind to others and looking for little ways to serve each day.
