Hi I'm Kenzie

I'm a musician, artist, writer, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hey! I'm Kenzie and I am 19 years old. I absolutely love life! I have a passion for helping others and I am very set of making a difference in this world, whether it be to a few people or thousands of people. I play the electric and acoustic guitar. I love to travel the world and experience new things. I am a student at BYU-Idaho, but I just transferred from BYU-Hawaii a short time ago. I am a twin to my best friend who is serving a mission right now.

Why I am a Mormon

The interesting thing is that I'm not really sure if I'm a convert or not. I'm on the fence. It's an interesting situation. I was not born in the covenant and my mom is not a member and neither is my father, but I learned about the church when I was seven and got baptized right at eight with the other primary children, so it seems like I grew up in the church. Either way, I'm so blessed because of the church. My mom really does not like the church and it can be hard some days to talk with her without one of us disagreeing with something. But I know that sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven. I am a Mormon because I know without a doubt that the principles and lessons taught by the church are true. I have felt the spirit so strongly at times in my life that have confirmed my beliefs. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ have done so much for me and being a part of the church, I feel like I know now how I can draw closer to them. Keeping the commandments is my way of saying "Thank you, I love you" to Christ and God.

How I live my faith

I go to church on Sunday as well as going to Family Home Evening, Devotionals, and Institute throughout the week. I believe that being a part of the church is not just a Sunday thing, but an everyday part of my life. I listen to wholesome music and movies. I am careful to watch my language and keep my mind and body pure. I also love to help people, and a huge part of the Mormon faith is to act as Christ would, and service is part of His ministry. All in all, I live my life in a way that shows I love God.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Some of my family members and friends struggle with this trial. To them, I only express love. Loving them as sons and daughters of God is the best way to help them and be an example to them. Loving them does not mean I accept or agree with what they do- it means I will love them for who they are and hopefully that love will show them the way to Christ. I believe that we should show them unconditional love, just as the Savior would. The Savior is the best example we have of how we should treat others. I think homosexuality is a trial that some people have and they need to learn how to work through it. I know that people who push through it, will come out strong in the end. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Absolutely not! We believe in helping everyone whether or not we share the same beliefs! Our church teaches that we should follow Christ's example and help everyone and love them all the same. Just because someone isn't Mormon, doesn't mean you won't be helped or befriended. Many of my friends and family aren't Mormon and it's been a joy to get to know them and help them in any way I can.
