Hi I'm Mercedes Muder

I'm a daughter, a wife, a writer, a former missionary and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born and raised into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and I have been true to everything that it (being LDS) implies. I shared a testimony with my parents until I was about 20...I believed all along but it wasn't until I went to Panama, to serve a full-time mission (August 2013-February 2015) when I finally learned for myself the truths of this Gospel. I have lived pretty much all over the western coast of the U.S. but currently live in Arizona. I love to read, write, sing, speak spanish and sign language; and plan to make a career in one of those categories (more along the writing category).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this gospel is true. I have witnessed the miracles of God, such things I cannot and will not deny nor can I fully explain them. I know because I have prayed and asked God and He has answered me. I know this is the true church of Jesus Christ and I have no desire to walk upon any other path that cannot get me me where I want to go.

How I live my faith

I attend church meetings every week with my husband, and during the 2nd and 3rd hours of church we teach the sunbeams (the 3-4 yr olds). We love it!

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Mercedes Muder
Absolutely! I believe that throughout time God has always had a Prophet on the Earth, such as Noah, Abraham, Moses, Daniel...the list goes on. Prophets were and are called of God to teach the world and direct God's Church. (Amos 3:7) Times have not changed enough for God to turn His back on us, we loves us and therefore He continues to call Prophets to be His messengers. Joseph Smith was the first Prophet of our time (this dispensation) and Thomas S. Monson is our Prophet today. I know this because I have prayed about it and God has answered. Show more Show less

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Mercedes Muder
The 'Word of Wisdom' is like a health guideline that we follow. We believe that our bodies are sacred and precious to God, He gave us these bodies so that we may live. I like to believe that my body is 'rent to own', I am borrowing this body for 80-90 years and then I'll get it back after the resurrection (a gift everyone will receive after death, meaning a perfect body). The word of wisdom is for our benefit; we have been told by God that tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea and illegal drugs are bad for us, and in obedience to the will of God we abstain from this things. What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Mercedes Muder
We are against it, it is a practice that ends life. We understand however that at times the life or health of the mother might be at risk or a pregnancy caused by rape is traumatic. In these cases, we advise counseling and deep prayer so that all that are involved may receive an answer according to the will of God. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Mercedes Muder
No, we do not worship Joseph Smith. We worship God and His son, Jesus Christ. We acknowledge Joseph Smith as a Prophet of God, he was called of God to to do a great work. We respect and love Joseph Smith for what he did, nothing more and nothing less. Show more Show less
