Hi I'm Julie

I grew up in Utah, and I am a single mom in school, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to do so many things. I love hearing other peoples life stories, where they have been, heartaches, how they have overcome trials and more. I love other cultures and exploring them. I love to SCUBA dive, participate in any physical activities, and try new things. I am currently in college (yes, I started a little late) for psychology. My biggest goal is to become a therapist and work with women and children who have been affected by domestic violence, which is something that is very close to my heart. My greatest adventure is my son. He is the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. He has given me some amazing insights to how tender our Lord is and how I really need to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the peace and joy that it has brought my life, in spite of my circumstances. Living way from my family, I have found my family in my ward. So many people have "adopted" me, watched over me, and have made me feel safe. One defining moment for me was after I attended the temple and was headed to work, I was stopped at a stop light, and looked over at a homeless person, and immediately felt the love of my Heavenly Father. As hard as times were at that time, I was never with out options. I am blessed to be a part of a church where I will never be with out options; not only in a physical since, but a spiritual since. At that moment I felt my Savors love for me. I have also come to enjoy the blessings of the atonement. Even though I have been rebellious at times, my Heavenly Father as never left me, and as I sought him out and applied the atonement, I have felt His forgiveness and His love for me. More importantly, I'm a Mormon because this is the true church. The peace, love, happiness and comfort I have felt and come to crave every day is something that carries me through this amazing life. It has blessed me in more ways then I have yet to comprehend. I can not wait to see what amazing things the Lord has in plan for me. I look forward to serving Him and using my experiences to help others.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by continually seeking out the Lord. I try my best to watch my attitude, thoughts, and actions. Almost every night (I'm not perfect) I take time to meditate and reflect on the day and how I can improve. I have learned how special the temple is. Being a single mother, working full time, and going to school full time, attending the temple often, I try weekly, has become so important to me so I can receive the guidance I need to know how to balance my life. The past few years have been the hardest, but have been the best because of the spiritual growth I've gone through. As I have sought out the Lord I have learned that He has carried me through my hard times, which has drawn me closer to Him. I have learned the importance of watching my thoughts, because my thoughts shape who I am and what I do. I have such a special place in my heart for visiting teaching. At my lowest point, I had amazing visiting teachers who simply loved me, cried with me, laughed with me and gave me the support I needed. They just simply loved me when I probably wasn't the most lovable. They have changed the course of my life, for I pray that I can do the same for another.
