Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a full-time missionary, aunt, social worker, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have worked for the past few years as a mental health therapist with children and families, and now I am serving as a full-time missionary! I feel gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a missionary and am eager to help others feel of God's love for them through the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. In my spare time I enjoy yoga, playing the cello, cooking, spending time with my family, dear friends and cat, and being outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined this church before I was born and taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ. I came to know for myself through my teenage years and into young adulthood that the teachings of the church are real and true and that we have a Father in Heaven who is as close as a sincere prayer. My relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ, is the most important thing in my life. When I was about 14 years old, I gained a personal assurance from the Holy Ghost that The Book of Mormon is true and that the church was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I remember wanting to know so badly if everything I had been taught about Joseph Smith, the First Vision, and the Book of Mormon was true. I knelt in prayer and offered my very first audible personal prayer, asking to know. I remember the Holy Ghost filling me with such warmth and peace--feelings that can only come from God. In my profession as a social worker I have seen much heartache and sorrow, and it has been easy to get discouraged and feel no hope for mankind. There are such dark parts of the world. But, there is also so much light! I find hope through the Atonement of Christ that healing is possible and does happen because He suffered all things and then rose above all things. I know that all healing comes through Him. I choose to follow Christ daily because I feel deep gratitude for all He has done for me and for all mankind.

How I live my faith

Living my faith for me means to remember Jesus Christ in all of my actions and to try and act as He would. Living my faith also means that I constantly strive to repent and rely upon the Atonement of Jesus Christ to progress and become more like Him. As I study the scriptures, I learn more about the Savior and feel inspired to become as He is. I am so imperfect, just as all of us are, but I know that through faith in Christ and sincere repentance, He truly changes us, for I have felt this in my own life. Right now, I am living my faith by serving as a full-time missionary. I know I have been called by a prophet of God, Thomas S. Monson, to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I did not anticipate the opportunity to serve a mission at this point in my life--I was focused on continuing in my career. As I prayed to Heavenly Father to understand His will for my life and the next steps I should take, I came to know that serving a mission is exactly what He wants me to do.
