Hi I'm Tabby

I'm a family girl, a college student, a true Texan and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college undergraduate working on obtaining a degree in Speech Language Pathology. I am the youngest of 5 children and grew up in a home that was always chaotic. I LOVE my home state of Texas and share my Texas pride with anyone that I meet. I like going to county fairs and spending time with my friends and family. I probably spend too much time texting or on facebook, but what can I say, I'm a social butterfly!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with an understanding that there was a Heavenly Father and that his son, Jesus Christ, was and is the Savior of the world and he died for our sins. However, there were so many of life's questions unsolved. Why was I here on earth, what am I supposed to be doing, why do bad things happen to good people? One day in the summer of 2011, I asked a friend if I could go to her church. This was the LDS/Mormon church. I loved church so much and was invited to take some discussions with the missionaries. At first I felt that they were a little pushy because they made me pray out loud and invited me to be baptized in only a months time. But they handed me the most powerful thing ever in that lesson, The Book of Mormon. They didn't say much about the book, but encouraged me to read the introduction before our next lesson. I went home and read and read. I LOVED it! 1 Nephi 10:19 says "for those who diligently seek him shall find and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost." My eyes filled with tears and I knew that God would not lead me astray. I continued to pray about baptism and was encouraged by the spirit that I should proceed in doing so. My life has been blessed tremendously by this book and by the understanding that I now have. So much joy and light has filled my life and I am eternally grateful to our Heavenly Father for allowing me to receive the good news and to Jesus Christ for atoning for our sins. This gives me continual hope and joy.

How I live my faith

I think the best way that I try to live my faith is by just being a good person. Trying to live the life that Christ did is one of my ultimate goals. When you are identified as the girl who is really abnormally nice, people begin to ask you why. When they do, I always respond with, "Because I'm a Mormon." I didn't grow up attending church every Sunday. I only was involved in church for about 2 years during my adolescence. After, I joined the LDS church and became a Mormon, I began attending church every Sunday. It is truly my way to rejuvenate at the end of the long week. I strive to be involved in the community and help others as often as I possibly can.
