Hi I'm Esther

I'm an artist, I'm a dancer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have two older brothers and a loving father and mother. I grew up in Midland, Michigan and now live in the Toledo, Ohio area. I love dancing, running, traveling the world, painting, listening to good music, and spending time with my awesome friends and family. I recently finished my freshman year of college at Brigham Young University and I'm now taking a small break from school in order to serve as a full time missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have been called to the Argentina Rosario Mission, and I have never been more excited about anything! After my mission I plan to return to BYU to become an occupational therapist. My goal is to open a therapy center that offers dance, art, and horseback riding as therapy for children and young adults with disabilities. I have a passion for dance and art and feel they have been therapeutic for me throughout my life so I hope to use them to make other people's lives more meaningful.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know that it is the restored gospel on the earth today. I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father to know the truthfulness of its words. He has answered me with feelings of peace, security, and love whenever I read. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet called of God to restore the gospel in its fulness and to translate the Book of Mormon as another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that God has called prophets in this day, to lead and guide His church. I know that the prophets receive revelation that will help all of us on our journey back to our Heavenly Father. I know that my Savior suffered for all of my sins and felt all of my pains. I know that He died so that each of us can live again. I know that He is risen. I know that our Heavenly Father has provided us with everything we need to make it back to Him someday. If we follow His commandments, read our scriptures, and pray to Him, He will bless us in ways unimaginable. I know God answers prayers, He cares about every little thing in our lives and if we turn to Him He will not only listen to us but also give us guidance. I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life in countless ways. He has helped me through trials I thought impossible to bear. He has taught me that if I trust in Him, He will strengthen me.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my life in a way that will be pleasing to my Savior and my Heavenly Father. Right now, I'm preparing to sacrifice a year and a half of my life to the Lord in order to share the gospel with the people of Argentina. Most of the time I don't think of my mission as a sacrifice though, because I'm excited to share what I know to be true and I know that God will bless me in all of my efforts. One thing that I try to do every day to prepare for my mission is to read the scriptures and pray. I find that the days I do this run much smoother and I am happier throughout the day. My favorite scripture right now is in the Book of Mormon; it's Alma 31:35 which says "Behold, O Lord, their souls are precious, and many of them are our brethren; therefore, give unto us, O Lord, power and wisdom that we may bring these, our brethren, again unto thee." I love this scripture because it exemplifies perfectly the reason that I'm going on a mission. I know that the people I will meet and teach are my brothers and sisters, I know that Heavenly Father loves them so much, and I'm grateful that I get to be a part of bringing them closer to their Savior and Father.
