Hi I'm Linda

I grew up in California, am a wife and a mother, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and a mother of two daughters, one of whom is married and has a child - so I'm also a grandma! I love spending time with family. Both my husband and my family members live scattered around the US, so we travel a lot to visit family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all of my life - you could say I was born into the church. My testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has grown stronger each year I mature. I know that we are children of our Heavenly Father and that through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the plan of salvation, is the only way we will find peace and happiness in our earthy mortal life and on into the eternities when we leave this earth. We use the bible and the Book of Mormon. The Old Testament tell us about Jesus Christ before He came to live on earth. He was called Jehovah. The Old Testament tells about people who followed Jehovah. The New Testament is the book of scripture that tells us about Jesus's life on earth. His diciples wrote about His life and His teachings. The Book of Mormon also teaches about Jesus Christ and people who followed Him. The Book of Mormon begins in Jerusalem during the time of the Old Testament, about 600 years before Jesus was born. It tells how the prophet Lehi and his family left Jerusalem and were led to a promised land, far across the ocean in the New World. Prophets in the Book of Mormon taught that Jesus would come to earth. They also taught that repenting and following Jesus Christ would bring happiness. After Jesus was crucified and resurrected in Jerusalem, He visited the New World to teach the people. He taught about baptism, the sacrament and how to love others. He organized a church with twelve Apostles. He gathered the children and blessed them, just as He had in the New Testament. Like the prophets in the Bible, the Book of Mormon prophets shared their testimonies of Jesus Christ. The last prophet in the Book of Mormon was Moroni, who lived about 400 years after Jesus visited the New World. Before he died, Moroni invited everyone to "come unto Christ" I have read this great book & prayed earnestly & through the power of the Holy Ghost received confirmation that it is true & this is the true church of Jesus Christ!

How I live my faith

I try to live my life how my Lord and Savior wants me to. I am curteous and caring to everyone I come in contact with. In my ward at church I am an activities leader for our womens organization. I help plan and coordinate activities that we have which is very fun and rewarding at the same time and watching everyone have a good time when it all comes together.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Linda
To put this into an easier to understand term - this has been a commandment from the Lord during times when there have been more women to men ratio for the sole purpose of procreation to replenish the population and establish the House of Israel. Show more Show less
