Hi I'm TJ

I am a triathlete. I helped build two schools in Peru. I participated in a humanitarian project in the Ukrain and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student studying to become a fireman paramedic. I love to be outdoors mountain biking, rock climbing and training for triathlons. I have been able to participate in humanitarian organizations in the Ukraine and Peru, and Im the only boy of five sisters!

Why I am a Mormon

I choose to be a Mormon because by being involved in this church my life has purpose. Sometimes I think about how my life might be different if I was not a member, and I know that I would be a completely different person. It makes me happy to be close to my Father in Heaven. It makes me happy to keep His commandments. Not everyone in my family has chosen to stay active in the church, dispite the fact that we all were raised as members. Conversion is a personal choice. Even though I mess up at times, I know that by putting my trust in Jesus Christ, my Savior, I can change into a better person.

How I live my faith

June 10, 2014 was my last day as a full time missionary for the church. It was a typical two year mission to the states of Oregon and Washington. Though challanging at times, I am extreamly thankful for those two years of being able to teach people how to come closer to Jesus Christ, it being a time of great growth in my own personal faith. During my time as a missionary I was assigned to mostly teach the Hispanic population. With some help of other missionaries serving with me and by the grace of God I was able to learn Spanish and communcate with these wonderful people who I have grown to love. Currently I am what's called a home teacher. What that means is I am assigned to visit with a few people within our congregation and share a message from the scriptures or the prophet to help build and maintain faith in Jesus Christ. I enjoy being a home teacher. Its a good way to make lasting friends. Besides sharing scriptures we have a responsibility to provide support and to give a helping hand when needed. I find that my faith grows just as much as those who I am assigned to visit.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of this life is to learn. Before we were born we lived with our Heavenly Father. He knew each of us by name and who we were. Because He loved us so much He formed a plan that would have us be sent to earth, obtain a physical body and learn. Learn what truly brings happiness and what does not. To learn that wickedness never was happiness. Now we are here on earth, God has rules, and He promises us that if we follow the rules we will learn what truly makes us happy! Show more Show less
