Hi I'm Mose

I grew up in Eastern Utah. I come from Mormon Pioneers. I'm a West Pointer and was in the Army. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a senior citizen. My wife and I enjoy family that now includes a number of grand and great-grandchildren. We like opera, classical music, and Shakespeare drama. But also the big band music of the 1940's and traditional jazz. We attend the annual Jazz Festival at Sun Valley every Fall. I am somewhat into genealogy. Raise a few tomatoes, but don't do yard work. Love to golf. Do some swimming. Hobby is keeping up on the German language that we learned while stationed in Germany. I play at the ukulele, banjo, clarinet and saxophone.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my knowledge of and respect for my Mormon pioneer ancestors. My mother was a great teacher of the faith. She taught me about my ancestors and their faithfulness in the face of hardship and cruel persecution. I gained a firm conviction of the truth of the "Restored Church" during my teen age years by attending Church and associating with fine young men.

How I live my faith

We are active Church goers, and enjoy the friends and neighbors in our congregation. I supervise some Sunday School activities including the libraries in our meetinghouses. I attend the local Mormon Temple where I perform marriage ceremonies. My wife and I went on an eighteen month mission in Germany where we acted as Chaplain's assistants at a Hospital. Also volunteered in 1999 to supervise construction of three temples: In Reno, Fresno, and Medford. With a fellow member of our congregation, I regularly visit three families each month. We provide help when they have sickness, and encourage them in their religious faith. My partner is the conductor/leader of the BYU Marching Band. We enjoy our visits because of common musical interests.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

My paternal grandmother was a plural wife of my grandfather. They married in 1885 before the Church abolished polygamy. They raised eleven children. I knew my grandmother well. She was a lovely, sweet woman who lived a pure and righteous life. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

I believe Mormons are Christians. I have always been convinced that Jesus Christ is the son of God and his mother Mary. I believe he lived and worked and served in the land of Israel. I believe he was resurrected after his death on the cross, and thus paved the way for all of us, his spiritual brothers and sisters, to be resurrected after death. Had he not been resurrected and been seen as a resurrected being by hundreds of people, the Christian religion would never have taken hold and survived. We all benefit by following His teachings.
