Hi I'm Daniel

I grew up in Sourthern California. I love sailing, rockclimbing, and the outdoors. I´m a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the sixth of eight children, grew up in a small town in Southern California, and studied at a university for a year before I became a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love every second of my mission because it is an opportunity to help others come unto our Savior Jesus Christ. In high school I ran four years of Cross-Country, Track, and played two years of Soccer. I love running! With diligent, hard work, I was able to participate in the California State Cross-Country meet three years and break my high school's 3200m record in track. Running has taught me a lot over the years! I love anything that has to do with the outdoors! Some of my favorite hobbies are sailing, rock climbing, horseback riding, hunting, playing the guitar, and backpacking. Midway through my first semester at college something completely unexpected happened. I went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with type one diabetes. This was a huge shock, but I realized that (in terms of sailing) you can't control the wind, but you can control the sails. I decided to be happy and chose to have a positive attitude. I chose to do something about it. Two weeks after I went to the emergency room, I ran a half marathon. The race went a lot better than expected. I'm not going to let diabetes hold me down ;) I can honestly say that this disease has been a great blessing for me. God has taught me a lot through it and has helped me grow.

Why I am a Mormon

There is no greater joy than being part of the Kingdom of God here on Earth. It has taken a lifetime for my faith to get to where it is today and it is constantly growing. Of course, when I was younger I relied on my parents' faith. As soon as I began to understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ more and more, my faith grew. I first read the entire Book of Mormon by myself when I was twelve years old. I remember feeling like a light bulb went off in my head. Since then I have read other volumes of scripture multiple times. I know that it is true. The Book of Mormon is the evidence of the prophet Joseph Smith. Through this prophet (as in times of old) God has revealed truths and has restored that same church that Jesus Christ himself organized approximately 2000 years ago. This knowledge has given me hope and direction in life. I chose a long time ago that I want to live the way that God (our Heavenly Father) wants us to live. Every day I strive to do this and I testify that there is no other way by which we can have true and lasting happiness. I'm a Mormon because God has a plan for us. He wants us to have eternal joy in this life and the next. I know that God lives and He loves us. Jesus is the Christ. God speaks to us today as He has always done. I have gained this testimony through studying, pondering, and praying. I would invite all to do the same.

How I live my faith

My parents taught me at a very young age about the importance of prayer and the scriptures. I pray and study the scriptures daily. This has been such an important part of growing my faith. I have faith in God and His son Jesus Christ. Faith includes action. In college I taught Sunday school. This was an incredible experience. I was able to become involved with those that I loved and help others learn more about the scriptures. Now I am a full time missionary of Jesus Christ. I chose to leave all personal affairs behind so that I could devote myself completely to help others come unto Christ through receiving His gospel that has been restored once again. There is no greater joy than through Jesus Christ. I love to serve others.
