Hi I'm Ryan

I grew up in California. I received my International Baccalaureate diploma and attended BYU. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I played football in high school. I suffered a 70 foot fall from a tree that resulted in a broken back and was not able to play my senior year. I graduated high school with a diploma from the International Baccalaureate Program. I went on to attend BYU (Provo) where I studied International Relations. I will be serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I will be sharing the word of God in an effort to bring others the great happiness it has given me. I am an eagle scout and I enjoy camping, shooting, football, and rugby.

Why I am a Mormon

I do not know the exact date or time when I was converted. I have always known God is there and loves me so I think my testimony has been one with slow and steady growth. I grew up with few kids my age who were Mormon (most not religious at all) and it was often hard to maintain my beliefs. I have often found peace in this quote from Albert Camus: "I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is." I think that this quote is an excellent one to live by. Whenever I have even the slightest doubt about God or the Church I remind myself that there is nothing to be lost by a belief in God. When I was younger I often felt like life would be easier without my religion (I was impatient during church and got bored of reading the Bible and the Book of Mormon) but I find that now I appreciate all the things that used to bother me. I love being Mormon and could not imagine my life any other way. I am leaving on my mission and look forward to serving and sharing my testimony with others.

How I live my faith

I enjoy being an active member in the church. I enjoy serving with my fellow youth and youth leaders in eagle projects and church service projects. I have been attending church every Sunday since I was young and while three hours of church a week (plus extra meetings and service) is a large commitment it has made a huge difference in my life and I have come to enjoy everything about it: the powerful spirit, the great people, the list goes on and on.
