Hi I'm Ryan

I'm from Salt Lake and I love to be outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Salt Lake City and I was raised a member of the church. I am the youngest of four children with a brother and two sisters. I have been studying at the University of Utah and I have worked as a Pharmacy Technician for University Hospital. I am currently serving a full time mission in the Texas Houston East Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I know that this is the true church on the earth today with Christ at the head. It is organized with the keys and authority of Jesus Christ that have been restored in our time. It is not a church of man, it is the Lord's church. We have a loving Heavenly Father who wants to give us all that he has and by obedience, diligence, and faith to follow Christ and use his Atonement, we will be blessed to receive all that he has to offer. The Book of Mormon has been a source of understanding and reaffirms the beliefs I have that Jesus Christ has continued to call Prophets in our day to lead us and teach us his Gospel so we know what we need to do to return and live with our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Growing up in the church, there have always been opportunities for the youth. Meeting every Sunday for church in addition to weekly activities gave me a chance to be surrounded by people of the same values and standards. I have gained a stronger testimony through experiences like these. I am currently serving as a missionary for the Texas Houston East Mission speaking Spanish.

What is the priesthood?

Ryan
The Priesthood is the authority to act in the name of God. Its purpose is to keep order and organization of all things pertaining to the church, but more than that, to serve those around you with love and respect as Jesus Christ would. It is only held by worthy men of the church to participate in ordinances of the Aaronic Priesthood for temporal things, such as the sacrament and baptism, and the Holy Melchizadek Priesthood for blessings of the sick and afflicted, temple ordinances, and ordinances of a spiritual nature. It is received by the laying of hands on the head, by those in authority holding the priesthood, and conferred to the worthy man receiving it. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Ryan
Joseph Smith was a normal man who, at the age of 14 was concerned about what would happen to him and those he loved. He wanted to know what would happen to his soul when he died and what he needed to do to be saved. He was a humble farm boy who took to prayer early in the spring of 1820 after pondering the scripture James 1:5. It had a powerful message as an answer to his question in that it invited him to ask his Heavenly Father in prayer and that if he did so in a sincere manner, having faith he would receive an answer, that he would be able to receive a personal witness of the truth of which church to join. As he prayed, he was visited by God the father and His son, Jesus Christ, who instructed Joseph not to join any church. From that moment forward, Joseph's life was dedicated to the building up of the Lord's church through the restoration of the ordinances and authority of the church of God as was had in the days of Jesus Christ Himself. Through modern revelation, Joseph was able to translate a record that was given to him by a heavenly messenger about the people of the church in the Americas from around 600 B.C. through 421 A.D. It included a visit from Jesus Christ and contains a history of the behavior of the people much like in our day, who struggled with faith, but in times of weakness would call upon the Lord and be blessed with times of prosperity and peace. The book became known as The Book of Mormon, containing the pure messages of the gospel of Christ. Show more Show less
