Hi I'm Skyler Lowe

I like to pick things up and put them down... I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 20 years old and I love riding dirt bikes and snowboarding, they are my favorite things to do. But I also love lifting weights, playing basketball, football, baseball and pretty much all other sports. I enjoy hunting, camping, hiking, splitting wood, swimming and really anything outdoors or physical. Of course, I love music! Without it life would be extremely boring. I worked for my Grandpa for 6 years at his river tour company in Moab Utah, shining lights in peoples eyes and playing with boats :) I lived in Stansbury Park Utah most of my life but moved to Monticello. In 2011 I Graduated from Monticello High School, then I went to Snow College in Ephraim Utah for a year. Family comes first, they are my biggest support and my closest friends. My parents got divorced when I was little. I lived with my Mom, Step Dad, little sister, and little brother in Monticello Utah. My Dad lives in West Jordan Utah and the rest of my family lives in different parts of Utah so I'm all over the state. I've also been to a few places outside of Utah, Florida a few times, California, Hawaii, Cancun Mexico, and some other places in Mexico on a cruise; along with like Nevada, Colorado, Arizona, Montana, Idaho, Texas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and I think that's it. . . Maybe. I have been a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints my entire life, got baptized when I was 8, got lost, came back, now I am serving a Mission in the GKLM (Great Kentucky Louisville Mission).

Why I am a Mormon

Because I know that this is Christ's church, it gives me a sense of direction and brings me a happiness that I didn't have before. There are many times when I fall short of certain standards of the church or commandments our heavenly father has given us and afterwards it never feels right, I know in my heart that its not right. Thankfully because of the direction of a Living Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, the Scriptures and Church meetings, I know that by the power of the atonement and through repentance I can be forgiven and better myself. But not only that I can, I know how I can do it too. Another reason is that I hear all the time "I know this Mormon, and he/she is an amazing person.", or "They are always so happy and nice." The people of this Church are a great people, who love to help and to serve, and the fullness of the gospel brings a light into their lives that you can't find anywhere else. I KNOW Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God and I know that Thomas. S. Monson is the true Prophet today. As the Prophet he is guided by our Heavenly Father, lead by Christ and influenced by the Holy Ghost, to know how to lead this church in these hard times and help us to make the best of them and to be truly happy.

How I live my faith

Like some people that have been members their whole lives, I just sort of grew up going through the motions so to say. I went to church on Sunday, I said prayers, and occasionally read from the Book of Mormon. I also knew the commandments and kept them the best I could. But in all honesty I did these things because my family did them and because it was what I was supposed to do. Not because I had a testimony of them. Sometimes I had a hard time paying attention at church and I only read and prayed to say that I did. When I was younger I planned on serving a mission, but once I was old enough I really had to think about whether or not it was something I wanted to do, I needed to make a decision. I decided to read from the Book of Mormon and Pray to know for myself that this is what I needed to do and that this is truly Christ's church restored today. I got my answer and I can tell you today that I KNOW that it is. Now I study, pray multiple times a day, go to church every Sunday and I do these things because I know that they help me to live a happy life and to grow closer to my Heavenly Father. I also try my best to help others, even if they aren't of my faith, with anything they need help with. Service is a big part of the Mormon church and I try to do it any time there is an open opportunity. Another one is family, family is the biggest part of the church, so I also try my best to love, help and protect my family. Now I am on a mission "helping others to come unto Christ".
