Hi I'm Dave

I grew up in Gloucester, Mass. and am a convert to the church since 1975. I'm a real estate appraiser and a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Gloucester, Mass. I converted to the Church at age 16. I served a mission in Santiago, Chile. I am married and have four wonderful kids (who are now all of age). I have been a real estate appraiser for 25 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 16. I had left the church I had grown up in a few years prior. Within the doctrines of the Church, I found the concepts of God and the afterlife to be compelling - providing significantly more purpose to my life. I love the Church and the scriptures. But most of all, I love and appreciate what the Savior has done for me. He is the absolute center of the gospel.

How I live my faith

First and foremost, I serve my family. I also work with other families, go out with the missionaries, teach here and there, and try to help out where I can.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

I revere Joseph Smith the way I revere the Apostle Peter - as a great man who did a great work. But there is no worshiping him and confusing him with someone of the stature of the Savior. Joseph was a good man who can stand with any of the Lord's prophets. But Jesus was and is the Christ, the Savior of the World, and the Only Begotten of the Father. I appreciate Joseph Smith for his work and sacrifice to build the Kingdom of God. But it is Christ to whom the Kingdom of God pertains. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

I think the Mormon lifestyle is quite varied from one person or family to another and from one country or culture to another. But there are key common elements - the worship of God, the principle of service, fellowship with the "saints" (other members of the Church), and the importance of the family. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Mormons definitely believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe him to the Savior of the World - the one who gives us the opportunity to repent and to come back into the presence of our Father in Heaven. He is the best friend we could possibly have. My favorite scripture is John 17:3 "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." As we know Christ, we know the Father. Through Christ we understand the Father's plan for us and are given the tools we need to fulfill that plan. Show more Show less
