Hi I'm Lee

I love rice crispies, I'm in the MUSS, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a student at the University of Utah right now. I hope to be a structural engineer or an architect... we'll see. I have just one little sister who I'm very close to. I love skiing up in the mountains in the best snow on earth. I could watch college football all day long; nothing gives me bigger chills than the excitement just before the kick-off of a good game. My family and I live for the fun traditions we have around holidays.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, but at some point everyone has to find out on their own if what their parents taught them is true. As I put in the work to study the Bible and Book of Mormon I found so many undeniable indicators that I was raised a member of the right church. On top of that I started to seek confirmation from God, not just my own logic, that I was where I needed to be. I did as a teenager, and continually to this day, recognize my answer in a couple of ways. First, I feel the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, etc.) as I attend church, read the scriptures, and pray to God. Second, for every commandment I keep there is a blessing attatched. As I keep the specific commandments that Mormon's beleive in I see absolute miracles in my life. And as I said, that's not just a one-time experience for me. John 7:17 teaches us to keep a commandment if we want to see if it's from God. That's what I've done.

How I live my faith

My faith is a HUGE part of who I am. In everything I do I try to make sure that I'd be comfortable with the world watching my actions on a big jumbo-tron. Not to mention, I know that my Father in Heaven IS watching everything I do. I read the scriptures, go to church, and pray to find out what He wants me to do. The scriptures teach us to constantly call upon the Lord as we go throughout our day, so that's what I try to do. I know that if I involve God, through prayer, in all the decisions I make that I'm going to be happy at the end of the day. I live my faith by serving others. I've had the chance to serve God, full-time, as a missionary in the Portland area for two years. It's been the best thing I've ever done. I look forward to all of the chances I have to learn and grow to be more like my Savior by serving in His Church. My service goes WAY beyond trying to get people to join my church: it's about doing what Christ would if He were here.

What is faith?

Lee
Faith is beleiving in something, without yet fully knowing it to be true. God wants to give all of us the ability to choose; to give us our free will. Rather than pushing us forward with spiritual experiences (an angel or lightning bolts or some other show of tremendous power), our Heavenly Father often allows US to choose Him first by merely beleiving. Then, as we take a step in to the dark, He turns the light on. He confirms that the step we have just taken was a good one. Thus, our Creator gently leads us along as a shepherd and not by forceful pushing from behind like a cattle driver. As we follow Him, he gives us the Spiritual experiences we are looking for.
