Hi I'm Susan

I grew up in Georgia, I grew up as a Devout Baptist, I am a Drafting Designer, I love the South. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to an amazing and handsome man for 30 years. I am a mother of 2 children and our awesome new grandson. I am currently a drafting designer for 11 years now in my own Design Firm, but spent 23 years working in the Airline Industry. We have lived in Florida, Hawaii, Georgia and now Tennessee. I love warm weather can you tell? I love sewing cute baby things, staging homes, quilting and trying new recipes on my non-picky husband. I am so blessed and love my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in Florida but left when I was 6 when my mother passed away. I then moved to Georgia where I attended church with my extended family, we were a devout Baptist family and I attended Sunday morning and evening services, Wednesday night services, Revivals, attended a Private Baptist school and enjoyed Baptist Bible Camp every year. I loved reading the Bible. I was invited to the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints when I was 9 years old. I will never forget the feeling I felt that day. I felt the Spirit of Jesus Christ stronger than I had ever felt before. I had to learn more, unfortunately my family forbid me to join. I continued studying for the next 9 years and when I turned 18 years old, I had a strong testimony that this was the restored Church of Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon is amazing and is truly another testament of Jesus Christ and teaches so much about Him. I moved out on my own, and was baptized a member. I have said many times "I have been so blessed in my life since that day, I don't know how the Lord could bless me more." I am now 50 years old and my Testimony that this is the Church that Jesus Christ restored to the earth is stronger and so unshakable. I had been told so many wrong things in those 9 years that I was studying about this church, but through study of the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I found out which was truth and which was not. After over 30 years, I still have that same strong conviction and Testimony.

How I live my faith

I have served with the Children of the church for 23 years. I am currently serving in our church with my husband who presides over a Young Single Adult Congregation. We love children of all ages. I love to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with my neighbors. I have many of my Baptist friends tell me that before they met my family, they had a very different view of Mormons. We recently had tornadoes come through our town and destroyed many homes and people lost their lives. Our high school had to be rebuilt. We have seen lives and homes put back together as all of our local congregations have helped to rebuild our community. We invited my husband's co-worker to church. When he told his father that he was going to visit our church, his dad told him, that our church was at his home week after week after week helping him to rebuild their home when others had stopped coming. He told his son, that before that happened, he had heard some incorrect things about our church but we were the only ones who helped him and his neighbors for months. He went to our website and learned about our church. He encouraged his son to go to our church, because we were truly Christians to he and his neighbors who lost their home that day in the tornadoes. I love to serve others, it is what Christ has taught us. That brings the most happiness to our family, whether it is helping to rebuild, taking a meal to a new mother, dinner to a widower or sharing tomatoes from our garden. That is one of the best ways to share and live our lives.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Susan
One day I asked 3 of my acquaintances who were of 3 different faiths the following question: "What do you think the Book of Mormon is?" They each had 3 totally different answers. I then told them what it actually is:.. "The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. One of these, Lehi, lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. God commanded Lehi to lead a small group of people to the American continent. There they became a great civilization. God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. It is named after Mormon, one of the last of these ancient prophets. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible." After I told them what The Book of Mormon actually is, I was amazed at their response "You really need to tell people what the Book of Mormon is, because that is not at all what we have been told all our life." I then told them that is why we are a missionary church and generally have about 55,000 missionaries all over the world to share The Book of Mormon with the world. And that is why I love to tell people what the Book of Mormon really is. Show more Show less
