Hi I'm Ruth

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single grandmother of 2 and a proud mother of 3. I grew up in Utah but I currently live and teach school in California. I served a mission for the church to Chile. It is was an amazing experience and I grew to love the Chilean people so much. Because of my exposure to Spanish I now teach the language at a High School near where I live. I am blessed with 3 amazing children and an awesome son- in-law. My sons are studying at a University in Utah after both serving full time missions to Argentina and Mexico. I love serving in the church and visiting my family. I love classical music, old movies and musicals. I love walking and being out in nature.

Why I am a Mormon

I am member of this church because I have received a personal witness that is is true. I love my relationship with the Lord and feel I can talk to him about everything. I love the freedom the gospel brings from the tethers of the world. I love the Book of Mormon and all the wonderful teachings that are found there. There is not a problem in the world or in life that cannot be solved through reading the Book Of Mormon and prayer. I KNOW the Lord lives and is keenly aware of me and knows my name. Being single in a church that is focused on families and marriage has the potential, if allowed, to be discouraging but I find that the Lord is ever mindful of me and has promised me so much if I live worthy . I am so eternally grateful to Him for His atoning sacrifice and the opportunity it gives me to repent daily and strive to be more like Him. I chose to be a member of this church and I continue to choose because of the peace it brings to me. Others may revile against us but I stand firm in my personal knowledge that this is the Lord's church, He is at the head and that we have living prophets to guides us in the ways of truth. I am striving everyday to shake off the natural man and to be out of the world. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have.

How I live my faith

I currently have 3 callings; I teach the adults about the scriptures. This year 2012 is a study of the Book of Mormon. I love this calling because it gives me an opportunity to study more. I also have a calling in the Stake. A stake is made up of multiple wards/units. Usually between 8-12. In this calling I have the wonderful opportunity to work with the youth of that area. We organize activites such as dances and devotionals and other fun big activities for over 200 youth. We also get the opportunity to visit and teach and interact with those amazing youth. I love this calling also. I also have the opportunity to visit with sweet women of my ward and neighborhood and carry a message and just be friends.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

I have a very strong testimony about the freedom living the Word of Wisdom brings. I am so grateful that I do not have to depend on coffee to "wake up". I am so grateful that I do not have to drink alcohol to have fun or lossen up or unwind. I am so thankful that I eat healthy and I have complete control of my body and it is paying off as I get older. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

A testimony of families being together forever has sustained me through the death of some beloved family members. Knowing that I will see them again helps the absence I feel in this mortal life. I also look forward to having an eternal companion who will love and cherish me; if not in this life in the life to come. Of this I am certain. Show more Show less
