Hi I'm Kimberly Acker

I'm a creator, an animal lover, and future ASL interpreter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've received my AA degree from Dixie State college. I love crafts including painting, cross stitch, drawing, and photography. I enjoy going shooting shotguns and camping with my family and traveling the world. I'm a giant fan of Country music. My favorite football team is the Miami Dolphins. I love to camp with my friends and family. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister (all of which are married) and I'm an Aunt of 4 nieces and 1 nephew.

Why I am a Mormon

I may have grown up in the Church but when I went to college it became apparent that I finally could choose for myself with out the judgmental eyes of my family and friends. It was then that I gained a close relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. During my first year of college I had a bad experience that really shook my foundation and made me feel alone and unworthy. Never before had I knelt so long in prayer asking for help and comfort - it was then that I was completely wrapped in warmth and peace overwhelmed my being. I knew then that prayer was real and when I turned to my scriptures and the Book of Mormon I received answers to my prayers and concerns. I knew that God loved me and wanted me to follow Him. Since then I've continued my study and personal witness that this is the fully restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the Earth.

How I live my faith

I'm not perfect and my Heavenly Father knows that, which is why we have a Savior and an Atonement. Recently I returned from my mission in Sacramento, California sharing the gospel in American Sign Language. I'm still trying to be the best person and member missionary possible. One thing I learned on my mission is that when we serve others we are in the service of the God that gave me life, the God that created this world, and the God that knows each of us personally and wants us to return to him.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Kimberly Acker
Growing up in the church and being surrounded by strong women I was concerned about this myself. I wanted to be able to hold the priesthood and bless my family with it as well. As I grew up and studied the scriptures I was able to find that although - as women we can't exercise the authority to wield the priesthood - we have the responsibility to love and nurture our family and to support our fathers, brothers, and husbands that have that authority. The Lords church is a house of order and all things have their rightful place. As women we are not designed to stand behind and to follow our husbands. Our Earthly Mother Eve was made from a rib of Adam. She wasn't created from the head or the feet or the back to forever be above, below or behind him - but to be at his side, helping to protect his heart and his lungs. Do I understand it all completely - no. Do I continue to study the gospel and gain more insight by reading the scriptures, listening to the prophets and attending the temple - absolutely!!!
