Hi I'm Joseph

I'm from Idaho. I am a missionary. I'm an Eagle Scout. I'm a humanitarian. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the fifth of six children. As a youth, I was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout. I am involved in humanitarian work in Central America. I enjoyed theatre and choir in high school. I was my school's student body president and a member of the National Honor Society. I enjoy running, camping, hiking, playing games, and taking road trips. I am serving a mission in Brazil. After that, I want to attend school and become a dentist.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be Christ's Church -- built on the same foundation as the church He established in the New Testament. I believe that, just as in Biblical times, God speaks to us today through a prophet. I believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God; another testament of Jesus Christ. I believe in Christ. He is the Savior of the world, while at the same time, my personal Savior. He died for me, was resurrected, and now He lives for me. Being a Mormon keeps me going. It not only provides that light at the end of the tunnel, but lights the way through the entirety of the tunnel. It affords me comfort in trying times. It brings joy to my life and it is part of me.

How I live my faith

I am an active member of my church. I try hard to emulate the message of my faith in my daily life. I serve my local congregation through the assignments I have been given, and I try to carry the spirit of service wherever I go. We, as Mormons, pray and study the scriptures daily, attend church weekly, fast at least monthly, and give of our time and talents to help those around us. I actively participate in the same. In other words, I'm not just a Mormon on Sundays - I strive each day to live how I believe, and seek to always improve myself to become more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We worship only God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. However, we do revere Joseph Smith as the one who restored lost doctrines of Christ's ancient church to the earth, through correct priesthood authority and power. We reverence him as a prophet of God, while reserving the worship for God and Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Of course! We believe in the passage found in the scriptures that God is "the same yesterday, today, and forever". From the beginning, God has shown His love and concern for His children by guiding, counseling and warning them through His chosen servants, the prophets. We believe that He does the same today. We absolutely believe that God has not forgotten about His people in our day, nor has He stopped loving us. He continues to guide and direct us today, just as He has always done, through His chosen servants, the prophets. Show more Show less
