Hi I'm Jessica Zintle Trom

I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa. I love being in the outdoors, am obsessed with books and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the only child. I'm doing a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English and Language Communications at the University of the Western Cape, SA. I also have Geography and French as elective modules. I am a major bookworm- I consider it my guilty pleasure. My other hobbies, other than reading include; listening to music(The Script of course), watching Disney movies on repeat -don't judge me- and dancing (though I must say my dancing skills could be considered a crime). I love chocolate, or anything that has chocolate in it from ice-cream to muffins.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized on the 27th of December 2009. I got baptized when I was 12. The main reason for joining the Church was because my immediate family had been converted prior to my conversion. I joined the Church to please my family, I didn't want to be the "odd one out ". I didn't have my own testimony, I relied mostly on the testimony of my family. I didn't fully grasp or understand the concept of the Gospel, but I guess somewhere deep down in me I knew it was true somehow. It wasn't until later on in my life that I came to know with out a shadow of a doubt that the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I hate the fact that it took me so long to come to know for myself, but I guess that to truly know something one must spend time finding it. I may not have mastered all the principles of the Gospel, but I can bear my testimony without repeating what my mother said. Through the gospel of Jesus Christ, you come to realize that life is precious and that every single choice you make has an effect, kinda like throwing pebbles in a pond, there will always be a ripple effect no matter which way you throw the pebble.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith? Well that's not an easy question to answer. I like to break things down to fully grasp their meaning. Throughout my teenage years I have learnt that faith "is a principle of action and of power", and faith is acquired through works. So, in all essence this means that to live your faith you need to constantly be doing something. Reading scripture, paying an honest tithe, fasting etc. All these things are sure and certain principles that can and will help you 'live your faith'. I live my faith by being the best version of myself that I can possibly be. It may not always be easy, but as Prophet Thomas s. Monson said "choose the harder right instead of the easier wrong". If today you fail at something, there's always tomorrow to try and perfect it.

Who are the Mormons?

Jessica Zintle Trom
Mormons are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which was organized in 1830. Though the name 'Mormon' is not the official name of members of our Church. It is a nickname that we have been given because of the belief that we have in The Book of Mormon. As a Mormons we believe in Jesus Christ, the Restoration of the Gospel and modern day revelation. "We believe that through the Atonement of Christ all mankind may be saved by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel". Show more Show less
