Hi I'm Charles Lanier

I grew up in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia, then moved away for 45 years and returned back to my hometown.

About Me

I'm married and have 5 grown children, 13 grandchildren. I have traveled much of the world in the US Navy and retired after 26 years Federal Fire Service as a fire fighter and fire protection inspector. I'm a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 1979.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was young I went to several different Religious Summer Camps and gained the desire to join a church, and doing so, I learned that the Lord's house is a house of order. I visited many churches as an adult after leaving Savannah, but somehow I didn't feel that solid foundation until I met the Missionaries for the first time and began investigating The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I loved the order of the gospel. Christ is the head of His church. It is a constant and one we can know is always there for us.

How I live my faith

It's a daily thing to live the gospel. In every aspect of our lives, we have to be the same on Monday, Tuesday...that we are on Sunday. We must forget ourselves and think of others, following the example our Savior has set. I also must stay constant with my commitment to the gospel and the knowledge that I continue to grow and pray for my short-comings to better live my faith. Serving in the gospel brings a joy not found in the world. Living the gospel brings peace and harmony to my life.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?
