Hi I'm Der.

And married to my handsome husband, Tong. Together, we are the happy parents of an 11 month old, Benjamin. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Bible Belt of the South since I was 5 years old. Tong moved here when he was 15. We enjoy the cool winters and hot summers. The humidity, however, could go away. :) We love to spend family time at the beach and love to go fishing. When I have free time, I like to crochet and Tong loves to ride his motorcyle. Our favorite job is being parents to a handsome boy, Benjamin. He currently is learning to walk and it's bittersweet to see him grow up so fast. I graduated college 3 years ago and is currently working full time as an accountant. Tong's almost done with is AA. Life is good and all of these wonderful blessings are from God.

Why I am a Mormon

I always believed in God but my faith was always dependent on my parents. If they said it was true, I believed them and vice versa. It wasn't until I was introduced to the gospel by my husband that I gained my own testimony of the God and his son, Jesus Christ. Tong had this light, this glow about him that I wanted. I didn't join the church until after I was married because my parents didn't allow me to get baptized. It was the best decision of my life. My testimony of the truthful of the Book of Mormon came from the challenge I got from the missionaries. I read and prayed honestly and the Spirit testified to me of it's truthfulness. I gained an even greater testimony of the gospel when I got involved in church callings, especially being a primary teacher. When I gave the Sunday lessons, I felt like the children were teaching me. Their spirits encouraged me to become more familiar with the scriptures. I've not read the scriptures cover to cover but that is my short term goal.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being active in church. I love my calling as Primary chorister. Before this calling, I never thought it was something I'd be good at but the Lord knew I would love the children. My calling as a visiting teacher has always been fun. I love visiting with sisters who I haven't seen in a while. I love to chat and catch up on each other's lives. It such a great bonding experience and I especially enjoy sharing a monthly inspirational message to encourage, educate, and uplift. I walk away from these visits feeling more blessed because we honestly care for one another. We take care of each other and give support any way and anytime we can.
