Hi I'm Devin

I'm short, fun, and contagious. I love being active and being spontaneous. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a native Californian, but recently moved to Utah to attend school at Utah State University to complete my Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, GO AGGIES! My passions include sports, learning, and helping others. I absolutely love to pole vault; it is the best sport in the world!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and because of that a lot of people think that I cannot have the same type of conviction as those who had to struggle with various other theological teaching in the world. The truth is just the opposite. The church tries to teach its members, and especially the children, good values and morals; then the invitation is left to "find out for yourself." I have found out for myself and through my own personal journeying in this life I have found that the Church of Jesus Christ is on the earth and was restored by Joseph Smith, a prophet called of God as was Moses. We can't believe everything that we read, hear, or watch and believe me there is a lot to catch our attention. That is why I am grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who invites us to ask, knock, and seek. Where we can go to Him with all of our questions and concerns and find out what it is that we need to do. Man knowledge is limited and that can be extremely frustrating at times, but I know that God answer's prayers. He answered mine and continues to do so. I am a Mormon because of the personal witness I received from God through the Holy Ghost of the truthfulness of the doctrines taught within this church. Through my own study of the scripture and prayers He fulfilled His promise of "ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you." The commandment for all is to "Come unto Christ" and the teaching of this church has allowed me to do so!

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by doing the little things. The Savior has said "If ye love me, keep my commandments." I love the Lord with all my heart and although I may not be anywhere near perfect, I strive, on a daily basis, to keep his commandments, to learn of him through study of Holy Scripture, and to communicate with him through prayer. I live my faith by serving others and showing them the same kind of love and compassion that Christ Himself would give all. I live my faith by declaring my faith boldly and standing firm in my convictions to the Doctrine of Christ. As a Christian, a follower and believer in Jesus Christ, I live my faith by trying everyday to just become a better person.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Devin
Of course I believe that there is a prophet today just like Moses! It only makes sense, God has always worked through prophets. It is those people called of God are given the authority to teach the gospel in its purest and most correct form. They are given the authority to act in behalf of Him as well. Without prophets we wouldn't have scriptures. Without prophets we wouldn't be able to have the basic understandings of God and Jesus Christ that we do have. Without prophets sacred ordinances and covenants necessary for salvation wouldn't be available to man. I believe that our Heavenly Father called the boy Joseph Smith to be a prophet because he was humble and teachable -- just like Samuel or King David or even Daniel. God is the same yesterday, today and forever; he has always worked through prophets and will always work through prophets! Show more Show less
