Hi I'm Jared

I'm a recent Anthropology student at USU. Ballroom Dance is a fascinates me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up the son of a Elementary School teacher. A lot of what my parents have done in their lives has affected my own life. I gave service as an Americorp worker in a K-8 Elementary School as a Reading tutor. Books play a big part in my life, especially Historical Fiction. I love music. Any kind of music. I played guitar for four years before going to The Dominican Republic to serve a two year mission. I am currently studying Cultural Anthropology at Utah State University and plan to use that to enhance a future career in Psychology or Education. History is amazing. I am inspired by the accomplishments of the ancients and the knowlegde they had that we have been able to rediscover. I practice Taekwondo. I am two belts away from achieving my Black Belt. Martial arts play a big part in my life helping me to be confident, healthy and able to defend myself and those that I love.

Why I am a Mormon

I decided to keep to the faith the my parents taught to me. Some of those who are born into a religion take for granted the teachings and priciples that they learned and go rebel for a time. I had a time like that. After making several mistakes that affected me and my family very seriously, I decided it was time to change. I began to read more carefully the scriptures. I have come to love the words of the profets of old. They give inspired counsel and help us to keep firm in our faith in Christ. With the help of my parents and Ecclesiastical leaders, I was able to turn my life around. I have come to love my Saviour with all of my heart. He helped me to see what I was doing wrong and how to fix it. I´m not perfect and make mistakes daily, but with my faith in Christ I feel better about myself and that I can keep pressing forward, come what may. As I read the promise that the prophet Moroni givews to us at the end of the Book of Mormon, I prayed to know if this really was the correct path for me and if the Book really was true. I testify that I recieved an answer through the Holy Ghost. God is our Father adn Jesus is his only begotten son. The Holy Spirit testifies of the two and their divinity.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve in a Singles ward as a Cousenlor to the Sunday School President, helping him to create a better learning atmosphere for our fellow members of the church that live in our vicinity. I served in the Dominican Republic as a full time missionary for two years. Before the mission, I taught teenage boys from 12 to 13 years of age. I also served as an assistant Scoutmaster. The youth are a big focus of mine. They are the most attacked in this modern world. They are the future and if Satan can get ahold of them then he has one enemy less to deal with in the future. They are our future and we must protect it. I also helped my father by visiting members of the Church that had fallen away and working with the missionaries in my city to invite others to come unto Christ.
