Hi I'm Chris Vandiford

I'm a competitive swimmer for a small liberal arts school in Vermont and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a freshman in college studying international politics and economics. I am also a member of the swim team. However, I am putting my education and athletic training on hold for the next two years to serve in Taiwan as a missionary

Why I am a Mormon

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the greatest source of direction and happiness in my life. Being a Mormon is far more than just attending a weekly three hour church service. No, to me being a Mormon is to walk in the footsteps of our Savior, to live as He did, and serve as He did. Jesus Christ is my greatest example and role model, He stands by me in all things. I feel obligated and honored to in turn stand by Him. To be a Mormon is to bear a title of great responsibility, to be different, but I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, and I delight in being different. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

As members of the Church we are all given the opportunity to serve. As I left home and attended school I found myself working with the youth. From dances to painting houses I was able laugh and work along side them, to teach and to be taught by them. Additionally, I was assigned to visit three families every month. These families became like my own and as I attended to their needs and cares, I found my needs and cares taken care of. As a young college student away from home I was immediately taken in, entrusted with responsibilities, and supported in every way. That is one of the many wonderful things about the church. It is a global network. No matter where you are there is always someone there to help and pick you up if needed. To validate this global network I will be leaving shortly to Taiwan to serve as a missionary for the next two years. I look forward to serving the people and spreading the Savior's Gospel.
