Hi I'm Colin

I'm a missionary, a movie buff, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving a mission for the LDS church. I am serving in the Knoxville Tennessee area to serve in the Spanish language. It is a big sacrifice, but I am learning so much about myself. Spending time with my family is also very important to me, and I very much appreciate their love and support. I enjoy rollerblading and exercising. I have gone sky-diving, mudding, and enjoy the outdoors. I enjoy watching action and comedy movies with friends, and love to listen to music. I just like to have fun.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I have decided to continue being a faithful member of this church. I was born into an active family, so I was always around the church. I knew that my parents knew that the Church was true, but I was told that I needed my own testimony of its truth. As I grew older, I began to see the significance of this church, and what blessings I can receive. I began to see the influence of Christ in my life, and his love for me. I have had some difficult trials in my life that were extremely difficult to overcome. Yet, I know that the only reason I was able to overcome those trials was because the Savior knew that I had learned what I needed to learn. I have noticed and understand that I have a duty to serve others, and to help those in need. I have been given trials in my life so that I can be strengthened, and that I may find happiness in overcoming my shortcomings through Christ. I know that this Church is true, and I believe in its teachings. I know that I can be with my family for eternity, even after I die. I know that if I am willing to lead a good life, that I will be blessed for it. I know that Christ died for my sins, and that if I look to him for guidance, I can be forgiven, and come closer to his presence. I know that God lives, and that our Savior Jesus Christ lives. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and that its teachings give us eternal principles that we can learn and benefit from. My testimony about these things is what keeps me going. I love my family so much, and want to show them that I am striving to be a good person, and to work hard to return to my Father in Heaven. I know that I make mistakes, and I will never stop making them. Yet I know that I can always do better, and that if I do my very best, and always strive to do better, I can be forgiven for my mistakes. God is the source of all truth, and time and time again he has told me by the power of the Holy Ghost that this is where I need to be.

How I live my faith

Some things that I have done in the church include working with youth. I was the president of a couple different young men's groups. I was in charge of making sure that these young men were doing their duties correctly, and trying to make them feel confident in their abilities. Another thing that I enjoyed was helping them to feel that they belonged. I tried to befriend each of them, and to show them that I was there to help them, and myself become better. I was tasked with helping them understand the importance of living good lives, and I feel that I have been able to do so. One responsibility that I had in my priests quorum was to give the sacrament to those who could not make it to church. So, I would take another priest, and visit those who were sick or otherwise afflicted, and give them the sacrament. The sacrament is a sacred thing, and is very symbolic. The Savior died for our sins, and he asked us to remember both the blood he shed, and the body that he gave up to die. By partaking of the sacrament, we remember what the Savior (Christ) has done for us, and what we can do to be better. This responsibility helped me to better understand the Savior's love for me. Another calling that I had was to teach 8 and 9 year old boy's about the Gospel. It was a very fun experience, because I got to see the youth almost teach themselves about the Church. Working with these young men was very cool, and it helped me to understand my duties a lot better. I got to help them feel good about themselves, and tried to teach them about ways to live a good life. These duties that I had were very special, and they helped me to become a better person because of them. Currently, I am serving a full-time mission, and I get to teach others about the Atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, which makes it possible for all of us to live again, be forgiven of our sins, and to receive all of the blessings that God wants for us. Because of Him, we can live with our families forever.
