Hi I'm Hyrum

I'm an older brother, a writer, an outdoorsman, a programmer, a pianist and a mormon

About Me

I'm 18 years old. I'm an Eagle Scout and I've always been enthusiastic about the outdoors. I enjoy travelling to interesting places. My family has always liked road trips and I've been blessed to have visited 48 out of the 50 states in America. I enjoy learning new things, exercising, writing, and spending time with my family. Now that I'm 18 I teach the younger Boy Scouts and I love instilling the values of self-sufficiency, learning, honesty, and kindness that scouting is all about. Every Sunday I help with the music in the children's classes and teach them songs. I am the oldest of seven younger siblings and love being able to teach them things.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I grew up a Mormon, I have a questioning mind, and I have spent countless hours pondering and praying about whether this church is the church of God on the earth today. Over the years, I've felt the spirit testify of the truth of this gospel. I've seen God's hand in my life, and I've gained a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was translated by the power of God. I have a testimony that if you read it with a sincere heart, you will receive a witness of its truth.

How I live my faith

I try to live my life in such a way that I can receive guidance from the Spirit of God. I study the scriptures, I go to church every Sunday where we have lessons and hear talks given from the pulpit by the members. I don't drink alcohol, smoke, do drugs, or drink coffee. I've made a decision to abstain from sexual activity until marriage. I try to do my best to serve those around me. My beliefs have brought me great peace in my life, and I've decided to go on a two year mission to spread my faith.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

We believe that we can be together with our families after death. We believe that we can continue to progress and learn for all eternity. All of this is made possible by the Atoning Sacrifice of Jesus Christ. To receive His gift, we must be obedient to the commandments of God. Show more Show less
