Hi I'm Katie

I love Harry Potter, I love books, I love life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am sixteen years old, and I am a junior in high school. I am tall, and I love to play the piano and the viola. I love people and friends, and playing classic childhood games like tag or hide and go seek. Even with my challenges, I love my life, and can't wait to greet the next chapter!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this gospel is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know it in my heart. There is no way that a religion so full of pure love is not of Jesus Christ's design. The Church teaches me that I am beautiful and exceptional, and teaches me how to live my life to the fullest. By that I mean that when I follow the Gospel, I am free from addictions like drugs or alcohol, I learn how to serve and love others as He did, and I feel His love and that of my Heavenly Father's too, everyday of my life and that is something I cannot get anywhere else, and it is something I don't want to live without.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by loving others and trying to live in a way that pleases my Heavenly Father and Christ. By dressing modestly, keeping my language clean, and just showing my body care and respect, I show them that I appreciate this gift they've given me. By following Their teachings, studying the scriptures to learn what I should do, and loving others with all my heart, I show Them that I won't waste it and that I will make the most of my life. Using the Spirit's guidance I try to seek out those who need my help, who feel alone and unwanted, or lost, and show them that I love them and that their Savior does too. This, to me, is what being a Mormon means.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

The Lord commanded it, and though I could never know what His intent was, I believe that at the times when polygamy was practiced, a large generation of righteous people were needed. For example when polygamy was used in the 1800's with Brigham Young, the Church had been chased out of several states, with a long long journey ahead of them to a state (Utah) that was far away, and cold. The Saints would have needed a large large amount of people to populate that place so that they could stake their claim, and so people would leave them alone and respect their hold on it.
