Hi I'm Andy

I'm a father, a husband, a brother, a son and a friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to learn and do things I've never done before. Once I've learned something, I like to share it with others. I'm a husband and father, so this means my family gets to learn new things too. My other hobby is laughing. I think that I have laughed almost everyday of my life - well at least smiled! If I can't laugh, then I think that I'm trying to make someone around me laugh. Some of my greatest joy is seeing my family and friends laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I LOVE the Book of Mormon! No other book has brought me closer to God. I was 18 when I read it for the first time. A friend asked me to read it in its entirety. By nature, my skepticism was in full force when I started and in the beginning I was very judgmental - looking for mistakes, errors or inconsistencies. However, I continued to read. In the back of my mind, a question persisted - could any man have written this book or was it of God? By the time I finished, the answer was clear. It was a work of God. Years have gone by and as I have read and reread it, the words take on new and fuller meaning. I have developed a stronger understanding of many facets of the Gospel of Jesus Christ - from life's purpose to understanding who I really am. Most importantly, the Atonement of Jesus Christ - from the Fall of Adam to Christ on the Cross - has taken center-place as a showcase of God's merciful hand asking us to come home. And home is where I want to be.

How I live my faith

To me, the greatest way to show your love for God is by serving others. I try to reach out to others in my community by volunteering. When possible, helping someone move, paint their old house, cleaning up the park, cooking and passing out food to those in need, teaching a person to read, helping someone learn a new language or many other action is what this life is all about. By looking outward, I discover more about the inner-workings of man and the true purpose of life.

What is faith?

To me, faith (and hope) is the beginning of all action. If we believe (or have faith in) something or someone, it will cause us to make choices based off that faith. For example, a young child has faith that a father will catch them if they jump from a ledge (when he tells them to). This faith develops into trust, which builds into love. Ultimately, each of us - as children of a Heavenly Father - are trying to find and understand who we are and who are Father in Heaven is. Many people ignore Him entirely, choosing to live a life without faith. But many more believe that he is there, cheering us on, asking us to become more than something mediocre. This is where my faith is. Belief in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ. For, they have given me the opportunity to believe in myself, in them, and in a future where, if I have enough trust - enough faith - to act on the spiritual promptings that I receive, then I will see more, feel more and become something much more than I could have without them.
