Hi I'm Jennifer

I work in Hospice, have been married to an amazing man for 24 years, am the mother of 5 children, am a convert, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up a member of the Catholic religion, and when I met my husband we thought our religious differences were "no big deal" A few years wiser and 3 children later we started to want out children to be raised with Christ in their life, but were unsure what direction to take. I had met with missionaries on and off through the years, but now really wanted to get serious. Thanks to their MANY hours with me and a patient loving husband, I made the decision to join the LDS church in 1995, and have never regretted that decision! The gospel has brought so many blessings in my life, the best being that my family was sealed in the Portland Oregon Temple for time and all eternity in 2000. Our 5 children joined us in the sealing room and it is a moment I will always treasure! Being Mormon means living my life everyday (not just Sunday) with the intention of being a better person, to others and my family by being an example our Heavenly Father can be proud of.

Why I am a Mormon

What drew me to this church was the emphasis on family and the eternal bond it creates. The loving connections made here on earth can be extended to our eternal life if we live worthily while on the earth. This is a concept I had never been taught but made so much sense to me. I love going to church, youth activities, firesides, and Relief Society mtgs that strengthen me and my family on a continual basis. Although I was taught to pray as a child, it was repetitive prayer and often I found no connection to my Heavenly Father. As I learned to pour out my heart in prayer in my own words, my relationship with my Heavenly Father became much stronger for me. I also knew this was Heavenly Fathers plan for my children, to be raised understanding his works and words, and seminary has come in handy more than once in my 2 older childrens adult lives! I am so grateful for every blessing the church has brought into my life!

How I live my faith

I am very lucky to be teaching in the Young Womens program (12-18 yr old girls) They are the most intelligent, well mannered youth I know! I learn from them each and every time I see them and am so impressed with the depth of their understanding of the scriptures. Activities with the the youth and with my own family often center around service. I appreciate the church's stand on serving others and feel it has blessed my family's life immensely. I also try living my faith in the workplace. Working in Hospice can sometimes be very difficult. I am so grateful for the knowledge of what eternal life can bring and feel like it helps me in finding compassion and peace in what comes with the end of life. I know the Spirit has helped me many times find the right words to say and actions to take with a dying patients family. I feel so blessed that these families allow me to be a part of one of the most sacred experiences in this life. I pray often before work that our actions will be guided by the Saviors voice and hands. My favorite scripture is in Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is there will your heart be also" I have most definitely found my "treasure" in my faith and my family.
